Stingray Classic Returns

I think it better to have a finish that will tint naturally with age as you own it rather than a fake yellow tint. My 1980 has taken 43 years to tint this much:-

Haha! Mine also has a nice 32-year-old tan, including parts normally kept private:

So mine came in today. First impressions were really good. Everything looked flawless and this one only weighs 8.9 lbs. I plugged it in a noticed right away that it sounded brighter then my Classic. I did a quick setup to match my Classic and it was still brighter sounding. This is we’re it gets bad. I tapped on the pole pieces with a screwdriver and only the bridge coils are working. Not good. It still sounds so amazing though which is the weird thing. The other thing I noticed is A note on the E string dies after about 4 seconds. All other notes don’t have any dead spots. If I put my capo on the headstock and the note rings out properly. I am so bummed as the weight, feel and looks are perfect. I’m definitely returning this one but haven’t decided if I want to try another.

Hmmm… maybe send it into EBMM for a fix. They will
Probably throw in some freebies . I bet turn around time will be quick and they should cover shipping .

It's a lot of money for it not to be perfect.

Man sorry to hear that. At that price everything must be perfect. That’s the sort of thing I’ve come to expect from Fender but not from EBMM. Knowing their customer service I’m sure they will fix that up for you, but very disappointing.

I just returned it. It’s a really nice bass but it needs to be perfect to justify that kind of money. Even if I got the pickup fixed I would still have the dead spot on a very important note. My other Stingrays have no dead spot and I always look for them when buying a bass. The A note on the E string is a really bad spot for a dead spot. I think I’m going to hold off getting another for now. I’m happy with the other three Stingrays I own

For now no. Maybe I will change my mind later but I am happy with the three other Stingrays I own.

I opted out of getting one myself. I knew I found my perfect 2band when I recently picked up my Old Smoothie.
8lbs of smooth chocolate bliss!!!

So I just enjoy all the other NBD’s in this thread.

Being content with what you already have is a great feeling !!!

I highly doubt it a common issue but anyone that gets a Retro should tap on the pickup magnets with a screwdriver to make sure they all sound the same. I just thought this stingrays was bright for a hour before I thought to check.

I am so sorry to hear about your issue and am right there with you on returning - as price goes up so do expectations.

Mine came in today, and it ended up coming with the soft case. No problem because I kept the hardshell from my last stingray, whatever it was. It was nice of EBMM to include the truss rod wheel tool even though I can't really use it to adjust relief. I guess it is the official pickup pole tester?

Bathroom scale says 9.8 lbs. All pole pieces tested successfully, strung it up with a set of Fender 9050s, in process of figuring out my setup no nightmares out of the box so far.

When I had problem with my Special on delivery 3 months ago EB Customer service said they would pay only return shipping and 14 days minimum to get it back; that was after 2 emails and 3 days to get even a response which was only to ask for serial # then another 2 days for send it back info above

So I would call them if you want to go return and fix route and hope for a T-Shirt and Coffee Cup:)

PS; See you returned it to Store for refund
