Stingray Classic Returns

Yeah I did notice the difference as well. The Classic is more tinted the the Retro. Both are nice though.
I think it better to have a finish that will tint naturally with age as you own it rather than a fake yellow tint. My 1980 has taken 43 years to tint this much:-

The degree the original clear finish shifted to amber after 44 years is evidenced by the slop left on the nut.

Edit. (unrelated) the bass is 9 pounds on the dot.

so how does it sound?

It sounds amazing!

Some first analyses.
The Retro 70's is 10 pounds. Not a lightweight by any means.
However, the balance playing seated is perfect - 100% spot on. Absolutely zero neck-dive.
I love the glossy neck and 2 EQ. Just like how a Stingray should be in my opinion.
Comes in a G&G case. Nice, but I'd rather have the Mono-bag.
The set up out of the box was just the way I like it.
And yes, it is expensive.

I will record a 1:1 comparison sound-clip with my 3-band EQ 90-ties Ray.
