Thanks for posting this!! How's the action and build? Any sharp fret edges, etc? I tried out the Classic Vibe 5-string and was a little disappointed in the fret edges.

Mine must be an 81-83 as it's a 4-bolt neck with no string-thru. From what I understand, 1984 is when EB started making the Stingray and this is definitely pre-EB, so 81-83 has to be it from what I'm reading here. No I'm not willing to disassemble the neck joint to pull the serial number.

Maybe but I live in a pretty rural area and I really want to learn jazz and maybe even orchestral stuff. I'll check the locals put but there's only like 3 music stores on this mountain and at least one of them offers no lessons.

Just was looking at the EB site and when selecting the Short Scale Stingray I saw banners that said "x number of basses left - order soon" or something to that effect. The value of X depended on the color you selected. Are they discontinuing it??

Possibly an inane question but I'm SICK of replacing entire sets of strings when the E goes dead (on a 4-string). Dunlop Marcus Miller Stainless are one of my faves, but I can't find single strings for sale in this line. DOes anyone know which of the following are the most similar to the MM...
