Considering a 5 string, but like my current Precision too much to make the jump easy

I have owned 4 5s and always end up selling them. I have a lovely Lakland Jazz I have to put up because it just sits. The first 5 I bought I played a lot but the more I became comfortable with my style, 5s just didn't do it for me and I am finally at peace with that. :) So I agree that if you...

Spector Euro 4 LX Limited Edition White

Hello Everyone! I am currently a Fender player and looking to branch out. I have heard people say Fenders and Spectors are 2 completely different animals. I understand that but for sentimental reasons, I have always dug the Sting White Spector from the Synchronicity Tour. This brings me to...

Trials of a Mid-life Crisis Bass Player...

Great thread! I'm 46 and very lucky to be in a great band that plays really loud. I'm fortunate to have a wife that knows fashion and her best friend is in show business. This has put in the not too old not too young category pretty easily. My problem is stage presence. I can't bop around...

    John Taylor - Duran Duran

He is still with Duran Duran as far as I know. I do know that Bernie Edwards did indeed "ghost" him on the first PS album but didn't seem too upset about it (saw the documentary stated earlier). As many have stated, he was one of the reasons I began playing as well and is a fantastic player...

Has any one regretted selling a certain bass?

My 1994 off-white MIA Fender P. It was a fabulous bass. At the time, it didn't fit with the band I was playing in and I had too many. Because of this, I will never sell my MIA 2003 Fender Jazz...

Foot Pedals and Genz Benz Opinion

Looking for opinions... I have a Genz Benz 1200 head that comes with a foot pedal. I also have a volume boost, tuner, octave pedal, and would like to possibly add something else for color. The problem is we are a 2 guitar band with a singer that moves around A LOT. I am new to this...

    Ampeg SVT Classic

Thanks for everything! I think I've got the direction now.

    Ampeg SVT Classic

One last question guys, since the classic has 300w of tube power, do I need to be concerned with the cabinets wattage as well? Do they need to handle 400w or more? Is a cabinet that handles 1400w too much? What would be ideal wattage?

    Ampeg SVT Classic

so Blackba, if I do get 2 4 ohm cabs, I would need to set the SVT Head for 2 ohms, right? I know this may be elementary for most but I don't want to make another mistake.

    Ampeg SVT Classic

That was my next question. If I get an Ampeg 410hlf that is listed at 4 ohms, what ohm cab would I want the second cabinet (15 or 2*10)? 4 ohm? Most I see are 8 ohm. This is also where I get confused.

    Ampeg SVT Classic

Thanks! I had a 410hlf but unwisely sold it. It sounded great. I think I will go with the setup you described. Maybe a 115 instead of a 210, but that's a big maybe. Any other cab recommendations out there?

    Ampeg SVT Classic

1st post here. I have always been a plug in and play type of player with no effects. I have an Ampeg SVT Classic head (300w 4 ohm) and a 6*10 SWR Cab. I would like to get 2 smaller, lighter cabinets. Using 1 for smaller gigs and both for larger venues. I don't want to do something stupid...
