    Roundwound strings with silk ends

Hi, just bumping this thread instead of starting a new one. Any others to add to this list? Thanks

    Fender flats wearing down//similar reco?

Yeah good point. When I used to use rounds I was happy to change every few months, but maybe I had too high expectations for the longevity of flats. First set was about a year and second set maybe 9 months. I do like the tone of them, maybe I stick to them and just simply get a new set whenever...

    Fender flats wearing down//similar reco?

I'm not an overly hard fretter. I used to be but the last 5 years I've put more focus on fretting softer because I realised I was pressing some notes sharp on the lower frets. I now glance at my always on tuner every now and then to make sure I'm not fretting sharp, which means I'm not fretting...

I also missed your wording in your reply which would have pointed the misunderstanding out to me. All good mate.

    Fender flats wearing down//similar reco?

Yes correct. I really have no idea how it's happened and can't comprehend it myself, but it's happened twice in different spots and never had it happen before with any other string, so who knows......

    Fender flats wearing down//similar reco?

Ok, well I've been playing for over 20 years, I used to play a bit harder when playing metal and prog, but the last few years I'm just playing general rock with a much lighter touch, and this has only ever happened twice, with these strings. I have cobalt flats on my other P bass with no issues.

    Fender flats wearing down//similar reco?

I absolutely love the sound of Fender flats on my 79 Tokai Hard Puncher, but Ive had the same issue twice now in 2 sets with them wearing down on my frets, causing a flat spot which leads to string buzz and sustain issues. Once on d string and once on g string on different frets(frets have been...

    Best P-bass that isn't a Fender?

I’m picking up this 79 Tokai Hard Puncher on the weekend. From what I’ve heard they are hard to beat

    Fender Rumble Club

Hi, I’m thinking of getting a modular cab setup for my tube amp, and like the look and value of the rumble cabs. Does anyone here have a photo of a 210 sideways on top of a 115? Looking at specs that should then make them the same width. Thanks.

    OFFICIAL ASHDOWN CLUB

Yeah I might be able to fix it up, I don't want to screw too close to the other holes though and create one big hole.

    OFFICIAL ASHDOWN CLUB

I've had my CTM-100 for 5 days now and I'm absolutely loving it. Don't think I can go back to non tube, and I haven't even opened it right up yet. Will get to do that at rehearsal next Saturday. My only complaint is that the badge has not been screwed on straight. That annoys me a little haha.

    Question for Ashdown CTM100 owners

Hi, Ive got my first tube amp on the way. CTM-100. Can someone please explain it to me in simple child terms, which order to use the preheat and main HT switches when turning on and off??? I would assume you turn preheat on, wait for tubes to warm up and then turn main on. So while using both...

Review: GHS Pressurewounds ~ Tangy Not Twangy

Hi, I'm pretty set on getting a set of pressurewounds for my jazz. I'm just wondering is the 106 too stiff in the medium set? I do play a few songs in drop D so it will be great for that, but concerned about the 48 pounds of tension when tuned to E.

Squier 40th Anniversary Vintage Edition Bass ???

I have a 40th anniversary precision. Love it so much Ive just ordered a jazz too. No noise issues. This anniversary line comes stock with alnico pickups. Sounds fantastic. Neck feels great too. Really amazing basses. Every bit as good as a mim player but better looking and arguably better...
