    Switching to 32" Scale

I have owned 30, 34 and 35. Technically I can play them all but the 30 just feels better and as my arm is stretching less it is more comfortable so allows better playing ultimately. Not sure about the sound differences on the E if any but I can live with that. Currently play a Fleabass...

Who Has a Bass No One Else on this Board Has?? (Part 3)

prosebass (UK builder) 30" scale, epoxied maple board, no pots/controls, Hipshot hardware, Trubass strings. My only bass and used for everything.

    A $1,000 bass vs. a $4,000 bass: What's the Difference?

If both are made in the same country then the $4000 bass should be noticeably better. You cannot compare between countries of manufacture as a big part of the difference is purely labor rates. So if building in the US; $1000 would buy the high end hardware, pickups and materials and leave...

Ibanez BTB Club...for the lucky few who have them!

Here's mine (BTB 470). Only had it a week but love it. They seem to be a used bargain as this one is like new and was pretty cheap.

    Not recording myself anymore!!!

Agree, it certainly helps when I add a drum track in. Sounds much better than just bass on it's own. Still very pleased I started doing it though as I really have made improvements over the last 2 days so would recommend that all beginners do it. Plus I can also use some of the metal...

    Not recording myself anymore!!!

I recorded myself for the first time yesterday with very poor results. Agree it is the only way to really improve as it differs greatly from what I hear when I am playing. I was okay at slow stuff but higher tempo lost definition and I had problems with note length which I just don't hear when...

    Tuning a bass to BEAD

I would do it myself but then I have a go at everything, whether I have the ability or not! May need to also make an adjustment to bridge to hold the bigger strings, all depends what the bridge is like I suppose.

    Affordable but worthwhile fretless

I got a Squier VM a few weeks back and agree it is a lovely bass for £200. It did need copper shielding though as it was slightly noisy but then so did my Fender MIM P bass. Maybe I am just too particular about having a silent bass!

    Dead Guitar

Playing it perfectly last night, pick it up tonight and no sound? What can suddenly go wrong in a passive guitar (MIM P bass)? I still get noise when plugging in the lead with the amp switched on and I still get noise if I touch the pickup poles with my fingers but no sound from strings...

    The MIM Fender P-Bass Club

Noise when touching poles on bottom pickup

Hello, Just fitted some new pups to a P Bass. Sound great as I also shielded it at the same time. However, if I touch any of the poles on the bottom pickup I get noise, if I touch a pole on the top pickup it is silent? All strings sound great so guess it is nothing to worry about but...

Noise goes when touching tuner, bridge etc,.

Thanks guys. The bridge ground is fine and connection to pots looks good. I will try shielding it all next week as I am fitting a new pick guard anyway and see if that helps. The noise is not exactly loud, but I am just a bit of a perfectionist with noises!

    warwick necks

I have just switched from a Corvette to a P Bass and very much prefer the neck of the P Bass. The Corvette was a D shape and was too big for me (didn't realise that until I switched though!) Also helps that the P Bass neck is shorter due to the bridge being nearer the end of teh longer body...

Noise goes when touching tuner, bridge etc,.

Hello, Just got a new P bass and it has a slight humming noise which I find annoying. However the noise pretty much completely goes away if I put my hand on the tuner. I presume I am grounding it so does this just mean I must have a bad earth somewhere? Thanks.

Warwick pickup change - what to do with black wires?

I have now swapped out the pickups and yes there is only one wire on each pickup on a 2004 Warwick Corvette passive (just in case anyone else is searching for same answer) The wire has an internal wire, then a casing and then another wire around that one to give the ground. So the one wire...
