Threatened of being fired (from 2 bands) because I won't take a spare bass...

The job can be fun, work doesn't always have to feel like work etc, etc. I've been paid numerous times for gigs that in no way felt like work (including the preparation time). I guess I'm just more selective of the people and situations I try to involve myself in.

Threatened of being fired (from 2 bands) because I won't take a spare bass...

Playing is supposed to be fun. If someone is doing their best to make it more like work, I'd just bail. The guy sounds like a dick. Just my personal take.

    My New P-Bass! Pickup Suggestions?

Jesus Christ, I can't believe how many people told you the bass already sounds fine (seeming as you purchased it, I kinda figured you already decided that for yourself.) Seymour Duncans are usually my go to brand for bass pickups, but if you're looking to spend a little more, you could always...

    String recommendations please? '75 P

Get you some GHS Boomers. I've been playing on them for the last 7-8 years and haven't felt the need to explore.

Pickup swap that made the biggest difference in your tone?

I took the stock pups out of my LTD B4E and put in a Seymour Duncan SSB set. MUCH BETTER TONE

Does a High Quality Bass Improve Our Playing?

It doesn't have to be an expensive guitar/bass, it just has to play well and sound good. Higher end/ higher cost brands tend to have better QC (in my experience).

My Advice - DON'T USE DURACELL BATTERIES IN EFFECTS (OR BASSES)

I just change my batteries before every few years, and I haven't had any issues.

    Bass for small hands?

The squire SS jaguar is definitely the best bet, in my opinion. There also the Gretsch G2220 that comes with mini-humbuckers. I'd still prefer the SS JAG, but the Gretsch is a close second.

P-Bass Pickup Recommendation for Rock with Flats and Pick

This 100 times over. Seymour Duncan offers ridiculous tone at a really great price point.

    Basswood?

I personally love basswood. I just came into the possession of a half finished build, 32.5" scale bass using basswood. Super light, and it'll definitely make a great fretless.
