    Help me choose an Octavepedal

For the record I use more pitch effects than any other type (vibrato, ring mod, octaves), and I do use a digital pitch shifter all the time but set to +1 octave on a treadle, Whammy-style, because it's a great effect on bass. But I wouldn't use one for octave down - you need the beef for that...

    Help me choose an Octavepedal

I work in software development, and often I'm asked to provide functionality that customers think they need and it's up to me as an expert to listen to their requirements, judge them by their actual business case and in most cases propose an alternative that meets their needs better than what...

Need some advice on current band state

Ask your drummer if he's even happy with his own takes. He might be struggling to piece together anything that he actually likes. Drummers have a tough time in the studio especially if budgets are tight and things get rushed - he will suffer the most from having to track to scratch tracks...

    Help me choose an Octavepedal

Totally disagree with all of that. You don't need an octave below that low G and probably don't have amplification that can reproduce it. The COG pedal recommendations are solid, a Boss OC-2 would also be a good option. Under ideal conditions expect it to track to the A maybe but not for long...

    Starting a band. Chemistry building.

Early days. Find some people to play with, you'll get along with at least one of them, hopefully more, continue to find people to play with until you have a group that gets along and sounds good together. It can take time but at 16 you are time rich. Enjoy yourself.

Need some advice on current band state

Editing recordings can take an age, if you don't have really good takes. Drummers can be especially anal about it, cutting together their best takes, shifting beats into time, placing samples to beef stuff up etc. It can get silly really easily. Get everybody on it, make it happen, finish the...

    What's in your case?

I only have basses in my bass case. I carry another case with strings, power cables, instrument cables, speakon cables, MIDI cables, USB cables, allen keys, screwdrivers, wire cutters, soldering iron + consumables, picks, kazoos (don't know why), a couple of double bass preamps and a spare DB...

Where's the Love For "Zon" Basses

As I recall Nick Fyffe (Jamiroquai's Stu Zender replacement) played a Zon early on.

    I am a "Bassist".....not "The Bass Player"

When anyone introduces me as a musician I'm always quick to correct them and say actually I'm a bass player. :D

    Same here.Still do on Jazzes.

Amp that best takes to effects?

Depends what sort of effects you use I guess. I like a cab that does big lows but with a tweeter in it and a head that will EQ fairly flat, but most amps will work for me to be honest.

What Your Strap Length Says About You

I would go with 'Obeyer' and what it says about me is I've had carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists and I don't want it again.

What's the point of "electrifying" acoustic basses?

Indeed! Even works in dance music if you're as nifty as Mark Brydon:

Would you be interested in a bass with a built-in effect?

I think basses are heavy enough without unnecessary electronics and batteries. I use a lot of effects but I'd rather have stompboxes or software and a foot controller, keep the bass itself simple.
