    Best bass overdrive?

As always, "best" is subjective. I can tell you what I do: Joyo Orange Juice into a second Joyo Orange Juice (always on) into a Joyo F.O.H. (always on). Low end for ages, grind, bite, punch, definition, *anything else you consider great* WITHOUT that disgusting farting sound I find in 99,9% of...

Want to see something really scary? (FedEx content)

This is what happened to me in Italy some time ago: I had this pedal sent me from Venice. I live in Crema, just east of Milan. This is the path it should have done to get to me: instead it went from Venice to Udine, then Bologna, then Piacenza, then Turin, put on delivery in Settimo Torinese...

Replacing speaker cabs to increase sensitivity

It's already there. Two cabs. 8 ohm, 200 watts (some say 260). Still, with a Mesa PH 1x15 cab (4 ohm, 100w output from the head) it's monstrously louder. Why don't I just use the PH cab, then? Because it weighs a ton (the whole Ampeg rig weighs less than that single cab) and I don't want to...

Replacing speaker cabs to increase sensitivity

I love my Micro VR rig. I really do. My only gripe is the cabs have a fairly low sensitivity rating (95, IIRC) and I wondered if replacing speakers could help me increase it. Sometimes I have to push the head harder than I'd like (I have to SVT210AV cabs). Last time I tried it with a single Mesa...

does anyone mic their amps live instead of going DI?

I'd love if so-called "sound guys" here in Italy did... I have never met one. So I went my own way in order to "cabsimize" my DI sound. Like it or not, it's a cheap combo... and to me it sounds magnificent, with both the P bass and the Stingray. The advantage is that whenever I need to tweak...

Which strings do you use/like/prefer on your P Bass?

EB Slinky Flatwounds. Not cheap, but they have the advantage (totally subjective!) on sounding equally great both when brand new & zingy and when old, broken in and "warmer". I would normally replace strings when they get "thuddy" and lose presence, but these ones sound so great to me even then.

    Can you quit bass?

That's pretty much what happened to me with drums. I still have them. Heck, I will occasionally sell and buy cymbals, still....but I don't have any more drive for any live/studio duty. It's just gone. I guess I am both satisfied by my record AND sick of doing it once more. Whatever. BUT: I still...
