Smaller string spacing or wider neck? Which do you prefer?

i built my avatar bass around a carvin thru neck w/wide spacing,i realized i play faster on my ibanez premium and rarely play my avatar bass anymore.if i did much slapping i may prefer the wider neck but it’s good technique practice to slap on a narrow neck, just my opinion

    Best bass for $1,500

if you like thinner necks i wholeheartedly recommend one of the premium ibanez basses, i’ve got a sr2605 that is my main player, also got a neck thru sr1400. both are beautiful and play very well, are very well made and the titanium bars in the neck give me confidence the necks won’t warp or twist...

    Buy a fretless?

i waited till i found a $125 fretless Ibanez on craigslist to avoid spending more then realizing fretless didn’t work for me.I bought it,liked it,played it in my worship band without any complaints so ended up getting a 5 string Spectorcore that I really enjoy.Just a suggested strategy you may...

If you could only play one bass brand forever

ibanez, they make such a diverse range and while many will automatically think of inexpensive ibbys, the premium and prestige line is superb quality.with ibanez you’ve got the sr,btb, fretless, talman, the new multiscale headless lines as well as things like the 7 string part fretless, the single...

    NBD Ibanez SR370MF

it’s really hard to beat ibanez for value vs price, from their value basses to my sr2605 great instruments. i bought a used sr190 on craigs list a yr ago for $125 that someone pulled the frets and filled the slots and it sounds and plays like a much higher priced bass

    Graphite necks vs. headstock tuners?

ive got 3 ibanez premium basses,2x5 string,1x4 string all with wenge and bubinga necks with titanium reinforcement. I always check my tuning as part of my routine but it’s extremely rare that they need any adjustment. My newest a 2605 multilaminated neck is beautiful, rock solid stable and to me...

    Gig-worthy Fretless 5, Under $1000?

i picked up a “demo” Spectorcore a few months ago for about $800 with a hardcase at Sweetwater and am very happy with it,I am especially liking the fret line inlays as it’s been over 40 years since I last played a fretless.Love the quilted maple top,I’ve been playing it every week at church with...

IBANEZ EHB 1505MS VS KIESEL ZEUS ZBM5

i’ve got both, the quality of an Ibanez premium bass to me is at least as good as Carvin/Kiesel also I think multiscale basses benefit 5@6 string instruments more than 4string

    SPECTOR® Owners Club

0 Merry Christmas everyone,I picked up this spectorcore fretless demo at Sweetwater for $700 a few weeks ago and really like it.Out of the blue last week at church it suddenly had a very loud buzz that I narrowed down to the piezo bridge.fortunately its got a separate volume so it’s playable...

    New Ibanez (headless, multiscale)

anybody got any experience playing a twisted neck bass? That intrigues me a little more than the multiscale feature, how much of an ergonomic difference does it make?
