I've found that those who disrespect a musician for playing covers,usually have a hard time learning covers. Bad ears? Lack of understanding of common song structures? Whatever the case. Musicians play music, regardless of who wrote it. Also cover bands are great for keeping your chops...

By all means measure it. From my expirence with my own bass ('97 Deluxe 5...replaced the original Suhr's) the Nordy's fell in. They also sound pretty fantastic. Good luck.
