Famous bands with bad singers

Have you listened to them lately? Dude's voice goes flat and out of key in nearly every concert clip I've seen of him in the last 5-6 years. The guy can sing yes, but his voice definitely isn't what it used to be at all. The op never specified weather or not it needed to be current or past works. My opinion stands on his present singing abilities.

I'm not saying I can do it either, but that's not what the op asked. If it was a requirement to be able to discuss the quality (which is all opinion based, not fact as one mans beautiful sonata is another man's nail gun to the ear canal) of music we wouldn't have the need for a discussion forum would we? We would all be the same and no one would have a discussion would we?

I'm a music major to. I have heard both good and bad singers, and while my vocal practice is limited to concert and chamber choir's, I think I can hold my own opinion. This isn't a bragging contest as your opinion is your own, as is mine. :smug:

I'd really like to know what your idea of a good singer is if you think these guys are bad. Yes, both Bruce and Rob's voices have declined in recent years, but you try screaming your head off for 30 years and come out with a voice as perfect as the first time you went into the recording studio to do your first demo. And Freddie? Really?

Just because you don't like how someone sings, that doesn't make them a bad singer.

Why radiohead? IMO Tom has an amazing voice, I find his singing beautiful. Just because you don't like his voice doesn't mean he's bad at singing.
Sorry about that, I'm a bit of a radiohead fanboy.

No, Bruce Almighty isn't where he was 30 years ago. But... honestly, physiologically, with the stuff he was doing 30 years ago, there's really no way you can call him a bad singer. It's like saying... frig, I can't even come up with a real metaphor here. Umm... Ahnold can't win body-building competitions any more, so obviously he's never been in peak physical condition. :confused:

Just listen to Live After Death. 'Nuff said.

EDIT: Ah dammit, I fed a troll, didn't I? If there was one nerve to hit... that was it, I guess.

I'm glad somebody else brought up Eddie Vedder. I'm in Seattle and criticising him here is like walking into the Vatican and slamming the Pope. But I think he sucks, and he's not even from here, but he tries to be Mr. Seattle. He has very little range, sounds flat, and I hate his style too! I heard him doing a duet with Ben Harper and it was the worst harmony singing I'd heard in a very long time. He might be the most over-rated singer ever. IMO

Glass Harp (I enjoy their music, but Phil Keaggy's voice gets pretty bad in higher registers...)

I may have to say it: The Police. :eek: Honestly, who really thinks that Sting is a vocal master? I can't understand a word he says unless I've seen the lyrics and listened to the song a good deal. (Which I do. I really enjoy the Police, and would have loved to see them live). Add to the list:

Pearl Jam (Eddie Veder, you rock in Pearl Jam, but outside grunge, your voice stabs my ears.)

MEGADETH. Sorry, I can't stand Dave Mustaine's voice.

Many have already been mentioned a lot of the ones on my list but I'll list them anyway. The worst voices are sometimes in the best bands and those bands have some of my favorite songs of which the lead singer (bad voice and all) really sets the mood for the song, just wouldn't be the same without them (except the last person on my list, who should NEVER get in front of a microphone - or a camera).
