    Small(er) Body Basses

Pedulla Rapture would be perfect, I think.

10 best of all time list

You know, Danko's very own (supposedly) Ampeg AUB-1 was up for sale on eBay a couple of years ago (if I remember correctly). Maybe it'll be relisted.

10 best of all time list

Even stranger than the inclusion of the Ampeg is the repeated reference to Rick Danko as "Ricky" Danko.

Good online store for affordable woodworking tools?

It really doesn't pay to go cheap on some woodworking tools: squares, chisels, planes, etc. But check out Lee Valley. They sell very good quality hand tools at what I'd call reasonable prices.

Is surf bass playing considered good?

And also "Shootin' the Pier" by The Lively Ones. Terrific line.

    Table Saw Safety

It almost goes without saying that before you purchase any power tool capable of maiming you or a bystander that you should have been thoroughly tutored in its use and safety protocols. Tablesaws, routers, jointers, planers, shapers, etc., all pose considerable hazards. But when someone asks...

    Blues rock

Definitely check out Albert Collins' Alligator releases with Johnny B. Gayden on bass. Tremendous player--soulful, funky, groove monster--and up front in the mix.

    Good "Light-Weight" 5-strings to Consider

Take a look at a Pedulla Rapture 5-string. You should be able to find a used one at a very attractive price.

    Your favorite rhythm section?

    I second that.

    NBD: USA Lakland 44-60 (JO4)

Congrats! Oh, how I have lusted for this very bass. She's a beauty. Personally, though, I prefer a dark pickguard with the Shoreline Gold/RW combo--black or preferably tortoise. Still, your bass is almost painfully gorgeous!

Maple body basses - why there's not that many?

While the Rapture is solid maple, the pickguard covers a considerable cavity (relative to the downsized body) that intentionally and significantly reduces the weight. Not sure if the NPG (no-pickguard) model Raptures currently offered have a similar sized cavity for the electronics.

    NBD: Holy Birdseye Batman!

Beautiful! But keep us posted on the effect that the balmy Belizean climate has on this bass.
