    Dremel Vs. Router Questions

I saw a video on YouTube where a guy routes for a truss rod on his neck build with a dremel. So my questions, 1. Is there some reason a dremel couldn't be used to route for pick-up cavites, neck cavities, etc.? I have a Dremel 4000 and the Stew Mac Precision Router Base. 2. I want...

    My First Electric Bass Build

ctmullins -thanks for the info. My design options are becoming more clear. Does scarfed refer to a certain kind of connection? Or can it just be two angled cuts glued together? grendle, - thanks, wow I love how useful this forum is. Musiclogic - a neck through does sound...

StewMac Bass Neck Blanks to short?

At 34", aren't they to short for making a 34" Scale Length bass with a through-body-neck design? Wouldn't that put the bridge hanging off the end of the bass? My design so far...

    My First Electric Bass Build

I'm still in the design phase. I want to make a Neck-Through-Body design. I also want to make it 34" Scale Length. However, it seems that the StewMac Bass Neck Blanks 13/16" x 4-1/2" x 34" are not long enough for a 34" Scale Length bass of this design??? Wouldn't that leave the bridge...

    My First Electric Bass Build

Thanks! I am leaning more toward the bolt on approach. Originally I just thought it would be best to try all the things that are "supposed" to make the tone/sustain better. When I played my younger brothers neck-through fretless recently, unamped, I thought it sounded better than most...

    Planning My First Build

I'm designing a Neck-Throuh-Body 4 String fretless bass. I haven't bought much wood yet, but I started laying out my design in the Softimage Mod Tool. I was planning this based on the description of how to make a neck for such an instrument, in this link from StewMac... Invalid Link...

To buy or not to buy- headless hardware

My next question is, if I were to decide on making a headless bass, how does this affect the design of the truss rod? How could you adjust it if it were installed backwards? Or can it still be at the top of the neck somehow? -M

    Headless bridge sources

Are there plans available somewhere for making a headless bass? Am I correct in assuming that you need to purchase such hardware first, and then design around it. Does such hardware usually come with some kind of schematic or template? Thanks, I'm considering the option of making my first...

Hi, My name is Madrone. MadR1 , the 3D in my screen name is because I know a little about 3D computer illustration. I recently got inspired when I went to my hometown for my younger brothers wedding. I got a chance to play his solid body 6 string fretless bass. Something he made with...
