Mohini Dey 30th birthday party - did anyone here go?

She's a tremendous player and I don't care how she dresses. In fact, it's quite refreshing to see a woman embrace feminine sex appeal in 2026 after the dominant cultural voices have been pushing the 'if you're talented you shouldn't need to look sexy' message so hard for a while now. Mohini is...

    Buyers Beware/Scam: Rick Link/Beardly Customs

I saw this on Facebook the other week. Man that is some shoddy work. I hope @BeardlyCustoms will put this right - that horror show should never have been allowed to leave the shop.

Can a Ken Smith Rock or do Metal?

I can confirm that you can play metal on a Smith, it wouldn't be my first choice but it will do the job. As for looking weird, there's loads of people playing boutique basses in metal.

    Kiesel custom build?

Kiesel? Isn't that the company where the owner goes on Instagram to call his customers idiots when they aren't happy with their instruments? Doesn't seem like great customer service, considering the price.

Seen yesterday - the £12500 Wal six string

Amazing instruments. That Alembic looks superb and wow, the price on Wals has gone crazy.

Who prefers a Maple FB over Rosewood or Ebony- and why?

I like maple and ebony equally and vastly prefer both to rosewood. I am not a big rosewood fan unless it's a very dark piece. My choice is not based on how it affects the sound as much as aesthetics. The board I'd choose would be based on the body woods and overall look of the instrument.

The bass that was your biggest disappointment

This Adamovic Jupiter. Looked fantastic, played nicely, but sounded absolutely dead. Without a doubt one of the flattest, most lifeless sounding bass guitars I've ever played. Absolutely not worth the money, especially considering the prices involved. I've owned a lot of high end and boutique...

    Jeff Berlin apology

Classy. A little introspection might be in order, perhaps?

Stuart Hamm now playing Dingwall basses

I too saw him mention the Dingwall. I wonder if he is done with Warwick. I also wonder if he benefited financially from his deal with Warwick, as he certainly did not seem to benefit in tone. I really do wish he'd just get back on the Kubicki wagon again, his tone with them and his Urge basses...

    No Pedullas for sale?

Could well be the case. They are sought after basses, well thought of among those who know good bass guitars. As Mike no longer makes them, it's natural the numbers on sale would decline as owners hold onto them. Keep searching, some for sale will come up. It looks like there are a few on...

The Official Warwick Club (Part 6)

I see Warwick have today uploaded a video to their YouTube channel providing instructions to customers to fix their "uneven string volume on the Warwick Alien bass". It involves removing the bridge piece and filing it until it's the right profile, because apparently they don't file them right or...

    Something brewing at MarkBass.it

Looks like they discontinued all of their best products. Bold move.

Grosmann bass - paid deposit, no bass

This guy has previous history for delivering bodged, busted basses that need additional work when the customer receives them. He also has a long history of taking deposits, missing delivery dates and "cancelling" builds that he probably never started, keeping the deposit and blocking the...

    Great British Bass-Off

The castle at 00:09 is not in the UK, the Bavarian architecture would suggest that it is likely located in South-East Germany, Austria or perhaps the Czech Republic.

    NBD MBJ Guitars

Extremely smart. I saw your video on Facebook the other day and thought to myself that it was a very pretty bass. The electronics package is simplicity defined, in fact to even call it a "package" may be over-selling it. I always enjoy your stuff, I've been watching you on YouTube for a good...
