I’m referring to the American Standard plywood bass by H.N. White Co. “the gold-standard of American plywood basses”

You always hear about that”classic sound” you’ve heard on thousands of recordings. The American Standard. What are some of the classic recordings? Who were the bassists that had that sound?

It is indeed a cut-label. This is a new term to me! Is there more to learn about that? If production only lasted a year, this would be that much more of a rare find, and the ‘55 serial number makes this bass a true anomaly. No?

is there a way to filter out search results in the classifieds? I live in New York and am shopping here for an upright. There are tons of great basses posted that I would buy if they weren’t in Wisconsin or Florida or something. Can I search for nearby results? Thanks
