    Peavey Pots??

I've got a Peavey Grind 5 stringer, and I'm thinking of swapping out the pups to something brighter. I'm assuming Peavey uses 250k pots on these basses but I'm really not sure. Anyone know better?? Thanks

    mystery cabinet!

yeah! that's exactly what this thing looks like. the 10"s are right dead centre like that. is it fair to assume there's an 18"er somewhere in the mix? there aren't handles on the side, like that traynor had. i'm having a lot of trouble finding the model name of this thing on the net. i...

    mystery cabinet!

hello! my buddy's got this weird cabinet that i'm kinda curious about, if anyone's ever seen one or knows anything about them. the plate on the back is scratched to hell but you can make out that it is a gallein-kruger, and it's 4 ohms. it's the size and shape of an ampeg 8x10, but when...

    Peavey Grind, any good?

I play the 5 string version of this bass, and I love it. It's a good value. It's pretty lightweight, excellent action and high fret access. The only gripe I had with it were the pickups, while they sounded very deep and woody, the stock ones on mine were very quiet. This doesn't really become...

    cab matching..

Hey folks. Question: I've got this Traynor head, YBA-1A at 90 watts, and I'm looking for a cabinet for it. Something pretty big, not 8x10 big, but close. So far I've got my eye on the Ampeg 6x10 and the Traynor 8x8 but they're rated at 600 Watts and 800 Watts respectively. Does having a...

    n00b question:

sweet! ok. i guess tube amps are smarter than i gave them credit for? i hear of newer amps having swtiches that you can set what ohm load you're giving it... mine doesn't have anything close to that kind of feature, VERY bare bones. thanks for the help guys!!

    n00b question:

AAH ok, thank you! So basically, I'd be shorting it out. I can see how that would end in a less than favourable manner. i guess my next question is, would i have to get the cab modded to run at 8 ohms then? or is there some other device i can throw into the mix?

    n00b question:

hey, i just got myself a traynor YBA-1A and i am looking for a cabinet to match, and i've got my eye on the traynor 8x8's i see floating around.. problem is, they're rated at 4 ohms and my head runs at 8.. unless you use both outputs, then it runs at 4 ohms, or so the manual states. so...

    big muff question

is the difference between a USA muff and a russian muff really that noticable? i've got a USA muff that i love love love with my baritone guitar but it sounds kinda weird on bass.. i dont really find it loses low end so much as sound kinda fat and sloppy. i'm wondering if maybe a russian muff...

Questions for those that use a pick...

i don't use a pick very often anymore, i used to almost exclusively and i just used generic hard ones from the music store.. nowadays though, i like to be able to switch back and forth using a pick and using fingers in the middle of songs, and the only way to do that is with those picks...
