The speed are original to the later models. Maybe started in 1985/86 with the DynaBass and color painted Foundations. Before that the P knobs.

@jpmcbride ....Here's my Patriot. It hadn't seen much use when I got it years ago and was in excellent shape. Really clean but looking dry and I've only used mineral oil about once a year on it. Yours looks like ground in dust (grey stuff). I'd remove all the parts and use a toothbrush with some...

I'd do some testing for compatibility. May not stick over time and will most likely need some scuff sanding to have some "tooth".

As best I can tell, Peavey never applied oil finish by hand. Think about the cost. Maybe some when the Custom Shop came about and very few then. All production finishes were catalyst based and sprayed. The mahogany bodies have a thin, matte clear coat. Not sure of the type of paint but it looks...

They are ceramic caps and haven't been available as new parts in decades as best I know.

Quite pleased with the way mine sounds stock. FWIW, the pickups are flat top humbuckers and sound a lot like the ones used in the 2nd model Dyna Bass and TL-5 to me. Totally different preamps, of course.

    Peavey T-40 Replacment Neck Procedure

It won't. T-40 is 20 frets and the Dyna Bass is 21 frets and it's neck heel is too wide for the pocket. The extrs length of the 21 fret neck will make it impossible to set intonation.

Since we're on old iron...I owned this '67 GTO from 1972 to 2008. Daily driver and had over 300K on it when sold and only bored once. 400HO/360HP, TH400 with shift kit and 2.92 gears (1970s gas crunch). It wasn't really quick but it was damn sure fast! 70mph was 1800 rpm. And yes, they are 15"...
