Little help. Stripped Peavy Foundation truss rod

I friend gave me a box of Peavey Fury and Foundation parts. The fretless foundation neck Allen wrench adjustment is stripped out. I have dealt mostly with Gibson truss rods so this one is new to me. Is it possible to back this out and just replace the Allen adjusting nut, if so are those available? Any help would be appreciated. Right now the bass is playable but it could use a quarter turn on the nut for a little less positive relief. Thanks for any advice.

If you have a set of ball end hex keys you should be able to get the nut off and replace it. Ask in the Peavey owners club and you should find out the size. Otherwise buy a few different ones, they are cheap.

Allend I got , I'll get a set of ball ends. It's stripped out pretty bad hopefully there is still something left to grab onto.

Don't use a ball end, use a regular 4mm Allen wrench like Mech recommended.
Obviously, take the strings off to minimize tension before removal.
Back it off completely and you will have a cylinder shaped piece that is your "Barrel Truss Rod Nut."
If you have trouble, stop and look to Youtube for info on how to remove it when it's effed up.
Check your thread to find out what thread pitch you have in there (maybe 10-32 pitch) and then start with AllParts and StewMac to find a replacement barrel nut.
When you get the correct barrel nut, a little bit of Vaseline in the threads and re-assemble.
They come in 4MM and 5/32" Allen sizes and the thread pitch can be 10-32 imperial (I think) or something (I don't know) metric.
Google truss rod nut and Google barrel truss rod nut and you will find YouTube stuff and info TB info too.

I've done a few of those, never on a peavey, mostly squiers and fenders.

Anyway, yeah a 4mm Allen key is the original size, if it's really stripped you can try a few of the old tricks (rubber band on the wrench/epoxy the wrench in there first and then have a go at it when cured)

Works great, a lot quicker and easier.

The only other thing to mention is that little plastic sleeve sometimes needs to come out to get the nut out, which is a pain in the ass. You can buy replacements eBay because they usually done come out in one piece. Most of the time I just leave it out.

You can source a 4mm nut but I tend to replace them with a bullet truss rod nut for the simple fact that most guys tend to have a 1/8" laying around somewhere. Stock up on a few Allen keys, throw them in the case or bag for the customer as a courtesy with a note that says (only use these for truss rod!) and everyones happy lol.

I recommended ball end wrenches because the nut is stripped. In my experience they will grip where a normal wrench wont.

Wow, that is small...I did not know they came in 1/8 inch, I've always thought 4mm and 5/32" were too small.
Fender Player Series takes a 3/16 inch which is a step in the right direction.
I prefer the 5/16 (Gibson type) nut that the earlier Peaveys have to the later 4mm and 5/32 Allen type.
Musicman wheel at the heel would be so much better on all bolt on basses these days.

Un ami m'a donné un lot de pièces pour Peavey Fury et Foundation. La vis de réglage du manche fretless Foundation (clé Allen) est abîmée. J'ai surtout travaillé sur des truss rods Gibson, donc celui-ci est nouveau pour moi. Est-il possible de le dévisser et de remplacer uniquement l'écrou de réglage Allen ? Si oui, est-ce que je peux en trouver ? Toute aide serait la bienvenue. Pour l'instant, la basse est jouable, mais un quart de tour sur le sillet permettrait d'atténuer légèrement la courbure du manche. Merci d'avance pour vos conseils.
