I've found that I'm much more susceptible to setup than I am to the specific features of a bass. Give me any scale length, any string spacing, and string gauges, flats, rounds, whatever, and I'll be fine as long as the setup is good. Give me a P-bass with a mediocre setup and I'll play poorly.
