Help with wiring Series/Parallel push/pull mod

Hey everybody,

Just wondering if anybody here would be able to help me with some wiring.

My goal is to have two double coil 4-conductor jazz pickups that are wired in series with themselves/parallel with each other when a CTS push/pull tone pot is pushed down, but then are wired in parallel with themselves/series with each other when the pot is pulled up.

I think I could figure out the wiring for myself if I spent a lot of time on it, but if anybody more experienced than I can expedite the process I'd very much appreciate it. If anybody can make me a wiring diagram that would be super helpful.

Series/parallel wiring a single circuit requires a DPDT switch. So being able to simultaneously switch two pickups' coils to parallel and then the pickups in series would take a six pole, double throw switch, and IF such a beast exists, it's not in the form of a push-pull pot.

The closest you'll be able to get is a 4PDT toggle switch to change both humbuckers' coils from series wiring to parallel wiring, then a push-pull pot with a DPDT to place the two pickups in either series or parallel. It would take relays or some other form of electronic switching to make all that happen with a single switch.

Wiring diagrams for series/parallel wiring are all over the internet. HINTS: The 4PDT switch should be treated like two DPDT switches stuck together. Divide the wiring complexity into three 'modules': 1) Neck p'up series/parallel 2) Bridge p'up series/parallel (identical to #1, except using the other half of the 4PDT switch - easy!) 3) both pickups series/parallel. (switch on the push-pull pot)

I hope you have:
1) some experience with instrument electronics (this will be very complicated for a passive bass)
2) a multimeter
3) patience

Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it. I've seen a diagram with 3 push pull pots, where the volumes change the series/parallel setting for each individual pickup, and the tone changes series/parallel for the two pickups together, all using DPDT switches. Perhaps that's the best way to achieve what I'm looking for. Otherwise I guess I'll just wire the coils in series and the pickups in parallel cause I expect that to be the sound I'll use the most (the most "traditional" jazz bass sound).
