Do you buy duplicates of things?

I forgot a bass! Two 4-strings + 1 five. Want another 5-string as a backup, again offering slightly different capabilities.

Do you buy duplicates of things?

I want to buy duplicates, but finances dictate I don’t. Instead I buy alternatives with slightly different capabilities to expand my options while providing some degree of redundancy. For example, I have two class d heads, two lead sleds, 4 cabs (all different form factor), 2 non-amp DI...

    Cabinet recommendations, please!

I’d like to add to the gushing. I have the Mesa Subway 112 and the 115. I love the 115 and kind of wish I would have bought a second 115 instead of the 112, though both are great!

    Fingertip Small cuts(like paper cuts)

Agreed! The corners of my thumbs tend to crack in winter, and it’s really painful. O’Keefe’s Working Hands was the cure when other moisturizers failed.

If you could play bass in ANY band, who would it be?

Easy...Iron Maiden. Lots of great songs, they still sell out arenas, killer stage show, and they make money. Problem is, I can’t play like Steve Harris. My right hand just isn’t fast enough. (I’m right-handed and play fingerstyle 99% of the time.) I’d be happy to contribute as a songwriter...

Is silk color a factor in your choice of flats?

I don’t use flats, but unless they were all hot pink or puke green, I can’t imagine a scenario where silk color would matter to me.

    NCD!! (:^D

I like the SW112, and it pairs well with the SW115, but if I had it to do all over again, I would just buy two SW115 cabs. For me, the 115 is an exceptionally well-balanced cab, and I just find myself wanting more of it! It’s not a knock against the 112. It’s great! I simply like the 115...

    NCD!! (:^D

Bit o Honey is the first one I go for. I have a Mesa Subway 115 and 112. I love the 115!

Thoughts on Two Notes Mesa Bass DynIRs?

@seamonkey - Understood. In this case, these are officially licensed Mesa cabs.

Thoughts on Two Notes Mesa Bass DynIRs?

Hi All! I’m interested in checking out Two Notes’ official Mesa bass cabinet IRs. I have a Mesa D800+ head and a couple of Subway cabinets. I thought about picking up the bass IR pack for recording. I would record direct and blend in the IR signal to add the flavor of the cabinet. Have any of...

Am I just wasting my time with this drummer?

Some people just don’t have the right feel. I remember very vividly a time when I was playing bass with my college jazz ensemble. The director assigned a song to a new drummer, just one in the set, to get him started. It was a different piece, more fusiony than big band or swing, and I...

    Gibson Acquires Mesa/Boogie

As an owner of three Mesa/Boogie Amps, I’m concerned. I’ve seen what Gibson has done with past acquisitions. I hope new management does a better job of letting them thrive.

    Great Leather Straps

@Jim C - No, I didn’t get one, though I definitely considered it. I’m leaning towards a Long Hollow Softy padded leather strap.

    Is this a scam?

It’s similar to the heel on my MIM Fender Deluxe Active Precision Bass. You might be able to see in the attached photo that a corner of the neck heel is rounded. My neck plate has 4 vs. 5 screws, though.

    Great Leather Straps

Thanks for all of the recommendations. @Charley Umbria - I’m seriously considering Long Hollow due to my love of Franklin padded straps. I got a Henry Heller strap from Amazon, but it’s likely going back. The padding has all kinds of kinks and ripples, and it doesn’t really look like the...
