A cpl months later. I just got one from Japan today, and it sounds exactly like the 1200s. In spite of the reversed pup, there’no audible difference to me. Mine is 093096 which is guitar no 96 made on Sept 3rd 1982. And it`s a keeper, (hate my keyboard!)

I have an SRF705, and the hardware is different (not just the color) it hasa passive piezo pup and separate vols for each pup! So its a different instrument also regarding the differences in wood, which is what creates the fundamental tone of the instrument.

Why don't you just experiment with turning the knobs and prick up your ears?
