My original Guv'nor GV-1 has great tone, but it also has a pretty loud hum and hiss, especially when i'm touching my strings. Has anyone else had this experience or did I buy one with a noise issue?

True, its been out of production. I'll feel pretty lucky if someone that has one steps up and makes a new demo. As for new Oxides, there is an announcement from 2 months ago on his website that he would make a limited run of them, so it may be possible to get it now.
