Marshal guv'nor. What are your thoughts?

Did you try the frowny face eq? I think the GV2 is great. Different strokes-different folks

I will have to consciously try that. I know I have done something to that effect in the past but not since I've been paying such close attention to my board. Thanks for the suggestion, it's appreciated. I'm with you, I do like the guv, I suppose I'm just always on the lookout for something, more, I guess ya know. As far as distortion peds go.

Wow, its been a long time since anyone posted here. Funny, I just did the C22 mod on my GV2 a couple days ago. MUCH better. It doesnt sound like theres a blanket over the speaker anymore. For me anyway. I noticed that I am getting some noise through my rig now thought that wasnt there before. Almost like you can hear the power streaming through my board them out my amp. I know I have a lot of pedals, 18 at the moment, on my board so I know that I am open for a little noise. I have had a little bit of noise before the mod to the GV2 and before I returned it to my board but since I put it back on my board after the mod, it sends that power surging kind of noise through my board. Anyone else experience that with the GV2 mod or do you think I just have a lot of pedals and may need a noise suppressor? I also power my board with three 1spots, two of them are 8 daisied chain and the third is a 5 daisy.

I have one of the very early ones, and it's pretty good for bass but I am mostly using multiple effects these days to get all the other stuff in one pedal. It lives with a guitarist friend now.

It's a nice pedal and has some low-mid (low end for guitar, I suppose) grunt that works well.

I used to use a Marshall preamp for recording in a folk rock band years back and listening back I used more of that Marshall dirt than I imagined.

I found a GV2 in the cast off pile at the local store the other day. It was like finding gold. It's the perfect pedal for me. I love the type of distortion it kicks out. Fat & Sweet. For what it's worth, I'm the type that likes pedals that effect the sound without overpowering it.
