The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

Not "mine" but on long-term loan from my former church (with their knowledge). Just put on flats and the pearloid pickguard!

    Best Bass for beginers

To be honest, I played a $219 Squire Sonic Jazz Bass 2 weeks ago that played better than anything else in the room. If you are around Chicago, it's probably still on the wall at CME... black and white, plain Jane, but was awesome!

    Surprised by a Squier......

Yeah, one of my favorite things to do is walk in Guitar Center, grab the cheapest used Squier Strat off the wall, plug into a decent app, and play nice sounding stuff :) never fails that 2 or 3 people will stop by and say how nice it sounds while being surprised it's a Squier. They nail the...

    Surprised by a Squier......

Well, did some reading and it looks like the Sonic series can either come from China or Indonesia. The one I tried was from Indonesia. Here's some info from a different thread:

    Surprised by a Squier......

It was indeed a Sonic Squier P-Bass for $219. Typical black w/ white pickguard. I also wonder about long-term stability in the neck. Will it twist, or stay true. If no twist, it's pretty much perfect!!!!

    Surprised by a Squier......

So, I visited one of my favorite music stores this weekend, and checked out the bass section for the first time. I've been playing guitar for 23 years, but am relatively new to the bass scene. I wanted to check out some P-basses to see how I like them compared to the MIJ jazz bass I'm currently...

    Made a bonehead move....

Got in a new set of LaBella Low Tensions and put them on yesterday morning. Not sure how I did it, but I got my A and D strings mixed up when I first put them on. Of course, the A string was long enough to be moved back to its proper spot but, the D string was just short enough that it wouldn't...

    Odd string buzzing

A Aaaahhhhh, this makes so much sense! Thanks for that. I guess I never had to deal with in on guitar. Is this why so many bass players use the scrunchies on the nut?

    Odd string buzzing

Let me preface this by saying that, though I'm ne lw to bass, I've been playing guitar for 23 years and have a good handle on doing setups, , neck adjustments, intonation, etc. But, this one has stumped me! Just put a new set of LaBella low tension flats on my jazz bass, and got everything...

    Colleges?

I would say getting a degree in composition is not a bad route if you feel like you need a degree. You can always have bass lessons to fulfill requirements.

    Colleges?

I have not read this thread past the first page, but I wanted to add that the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) offers a great BMUS completely online or in person. I just finished mine last year and it was superb. I really can't recommend it enough. It was very informative and you can totally...

    Mr Woody checking in

Hi there. I'm a long time guitar player (23 years) and have played bass a handful of times in my life. Recently, I was asked to play bass at church and have decided to really dive in! I have a 88-89 MIJ Jazz Bass on "long-term loan" from a previous church (the worship director loaned it saying...
