    Anyone ever try Thumb picks?

From the get-go I learned that style because that’s what Chuck Rainey put in his instructional book. Really it doesn’t take a long time to get used to hitting with the string with a tip of your finger and your fingernail at the same time. It’s not the same as a pic, but it does give you a bit of...

    Anyone ever try Thumb picks?

Yes. Very fun. I have used a few types of thumb pics, but it was all with alt- country Travis picking style acoustic guitar and some electric guitar. I have a FF 7-string that I use that way now. Love it. Zero compromises, every technique available.

NAD presenting the Canadian beer fridge Traynor YBA3 Custom Special

Got my hands on a 1968 Traynor Custom Special YBA3 today. Needs a service, but already OMG! Single owner, it has the leather dust cover, and the owner was using it. It’s like new inside. Except retubed so no nice vintage tubes… The cabinets are 2 x 8 with Celestions

    Question for you pick players

Well, I’ll follow that incredibly detailed post with the simple fact that this thread led me to revisit using a thumb pick, but with bass. I have used the metal Dunlop thumb pics for a long time for country pickin’ sometimes and acoustic, haven’t tried it on bass until after this thread...

A few words about the BOSS Katana 210 Combo

I’m revisiting this old thread because I have one of these combos. And I agree that surprisingly loud and half decent sounding for the price and size I would not hesitate to take this on a gig, especially with PA support. But surprisingly loud doesn’t mean it’s loud enough to keep up with like...

    Question for you pick players

When I was younger and figuring out the plectrum, I ordered a bundle from John Pearce. It had a bunch of different types of shapes and a bunch of different materials, different thicknesses, even a button. As far as thickness goes, I’m not super fussy because different thicknesses and materials...

Epiphone Jack Casady possibly discontinued? Say WHAT!?!

I must admit that the fretless version has been calling me.

Is there such a thing as a high-pass filter (HPF) & a low-pass filter (LPF) in the same pedal?

I use my Broughton Studio One because of the high and low cut filters. Excellent upright, also with the electric. And the red knob will get you more gain than you probably will need for just about any instance.
