I bought my first set of nylon strings for my upright. And I’m still a novice relatively with the upright, so I wouldn’t take my review too too seriously.

I got a set of the MARKBASS Aries Trevolazzi (sorry if I spelled that wrong)

They’re white. I was expecting black.

But they sound great. After settling in overnight and readjusting the bridge this morning at least. I was a little sceptical last night but now I’ve got a new blister on two of my fingers so it must be a good set of strings.

Well, I wouldn’t know. I had the set of strings that came with which were actually fourth-quarter strings and probably 15 years old. I put a set of Helicores on for my first set and it was ok. My frame of reference is flat wound strings on fretless electric basis. Reminded me a lot of chromes.

And there are a medium the action wasn’t great with those string strings on it

These ones are way softer in feel. They don’t have the volume, but they certainly have a nicer character to the notes. Very nice mwaaa

The Internation was easy, effortless really

I tried them on a bass (not mine) during a visit to a luthier. Very easy under the fingers and soft. They were so easy that I thought "playing these strings is easier than talking".
I liked them a lot; unfortunately you cannot bow them, so for me it's a no go.
They are made in Italy by D'Orazio strings company, which was absorbed sometime ago by Markbass; when the company was still D'Orazio they produced a Ares signature string.
Ares Tavolazzi is a legend within the Italian bass community since the '70s. And a great guy too.
