another 4ohm or 8ohm cab question (for use w/ separate pre and power amps)

i run mine bridged mono with two 115 cabs (for portability). two 8 ohms cabs making a 4 ohm load on the amp. remember, the amp "sees" the load of your cabs whether 8, 4 or 2. they are quite versatile themselves. i bridge mine just to get the full 500 watts out of it at 4 ohms. if it was 500 per...

    Anyone else dislike SWR?

i love my swr son of bertha cabs. just not too keen on the heads i used in the past. mix and match, find the sound, on and on forever...but swr is good stuff to me

Rookie needs help picking from Craigslist amps for sale...

i'd steer clear of the behringer stuff and the gk700 cuz it's a bi-amp style head. definitely look at the carvin and ampeg stuff. a tube preamp is always a bonus but not needed. just make sure you get the power rating you need and see that it has the kind of speaker connections you like/need...

Who plays rock/metal music with 2x15's?

i play that rock/metal stuff sometimes too. I just got rid of a eden 410 cab when i found two SWR son of bertha 115 cabs. the 215 stack changed everything for the better. my sound is much fuller (to me) and the pants are flappin. i'll use 15s forever.

good stuff guys. i like the educate yourself approach too. you've touched on the "he'll probably say" stuff on the money too. He's like.."there's one on ebay right now for $500!"..nodding his head in a "i told you so" sort of way. this fella talks like he fell off a turnip truck. when i visited...

    what went wrong?

i like my power conditioner. i did buy the cheapest one i could find. kind of like when an electric component breaks on your car, you start at the fuse block and work your way down the list. in this case it would be the guitar, then on. check the ground wiring in its guts, then ohm the cable and...

    Used amp ,

ive seen 115 combos carry a 250 capacity music hall. I personally like 15s. i got a 215 modular rig that i can split in half if need be. but i like the stack. and they are easier to carry that way. my 410 weighs 100lbs, each 15 cab is about 60lbs. much easier to lug around. and can handle all...

yeah, sounds great but cash is the prob. the 4004 is $200 or best offer, and sm400 is $400 and firm (so he says). i know...tube pre vs. solid state. who here likes the workingman 4004??? tell me something about them if you like

ive been reading alot of good stuff on the sm400 head over the last few pages. i'd like an swr head but cant decide between the two i have a crack at right now. the sm400 or the workingman 4004. my two SOB cabs combine for a total of 700 watts at 4 ohms and i'd like to power them with a head...
