Genz Benz Streamliner Part 9

I don't do flavor of the month but what works and sounds the best. For 5 years it was my GK 700RB II amp until I needed a lighter amp to carry and ordered my Genz Benz Streamliner 600. Frankly wasn't expecting anything but an amp that weighed almost about 1/3 that of the GK but everytime I use it out it puts a smile on my face. This thing just gets better with volume. Great amp!!!

Recently my brother sat in with us on drums, After the gig I asked what he thought about the Streamliner 900 and my 2 210 AV cabs and he said "You're tone sounded like sex!" Lol!

I guess that's the tone I was going for! :bassist:

Carrying your tube amp over your shoulder & your cab & bass in your hands is the clear plus here

Exactly what I needed today. Sounded great as usual. I used the 9.2max for the gig last night but next time I'm outdoors & need more warmth I may grab the Streamliner.
Outdoor venues make thin clear tone a little too thin. Luckily the 9.2max is sufficiently warm to git r done too. Indoor rock, in a basement or crappy venue I still prefer the 9.2max. Big church & outdoors where I need warmth. Streamliner. :bassist:

Shuttle: clean, clear, tight, dry, transparent. Some will say "hi-fi" or "flat" tone
Streamliner: big, fat, juicy, bold, warm, creamy, but with lots of tones hidden in that simple but effective Eq controls. Not a one trick pony in my opinion, once you get used to the tone controls (including gain).

Quite different, or opposite, worlds...

I just ordered a Genz Benz Uber Bass GB810T-UB, which i got a great deal on. I like really bassie bass, don't slap and am in a semi Rockabilly 3 piece band. Reading the reviews I'm not sure this is the right cab for me...but I was thinking of picking up a Benz Streamliner to pull the tone i want out. Reading through the forums it seems like Streamliners are pretty picky about cabs, is this a good fit and should I be able to get some good low bass out of the combination? Thanks ed

My bet is the streamliner will do great with that cab and you will get what you need out of it. Please let us all know how it works out.

I think the Streamliner sounds great with lots of cabs...for upright, I'd put a parametric or 31 band graphic eq in your fx loop...as I'm sure you know, some rooms are easier than others to dial in a great upright sound at high SPL. Not really a 410 or 810 guy these days, but the Uber 810 is one of the best 810's out there, IMO :)

My trio played a largish sized busy rock pub on saturday and my Streamliner 900 was incredible, when combined with my Barefaced Super Twelve it has so much power and tone, it was drawing people in from outside the venue, what was good was that we were loud but not excessively loud yet people said they could hear my bass from way down the road, such is the room filling power of this head and cab :bassist:
I had the following settings ;

Gain button selected
Gain between noon and 3 depending on type of song (from heavy rock to blues)
Volume at noon
Bass between 9 and 11
Mid on 3
Mid switch on 2.5K
Treble at noon
Master never above noon

Fender USA P Dlx in passive with volume and tone on max, mainly on the neck pick up .
BF cab tweeter on max .

These combinations gave a huge warm sound, I could have played all night long I was so pleased with it :D

great projection, clarity, but with a ballsy lowend

The 900 really is a masterpiece of design, to make such a powerful and fantastic sounding reliable amp weighing about the same as a few bags of sugar is remarkable, and for such a good price !!
I get enormous pleasure when telling people to pick it up, the look of surprise is great !
I nominate it product of the century ;)

I have to admit, the 9.2 max is my #1 right now, but whenever I play through the Streamliner I feel a little burst of pleasure at the sound of each note. :eek:

I'm guessing it won't happen, but I would love to have a 9.2 UberMax with a switchable/blendable Streamliner channel. :bassist:

Very true.... Great, dependable, loud and lightweight amp..

I had a guy come up to me last week and ask me what power amp am i using with that Genz preamp.. I said its not a standalone preamp.. well it could be.... But Its am amp too...
He couldn't believe it when he felt the weight and heard the Loudness it put out...
