Its all about the playability. If you like jamming on baseball bats, hit it man, they do sound amazing! The double humbuckers get in the way of slapping for me though, Maybe I do it wrong or something, but there isn't a ton of space under the strings, it being mostly filled with awesome...

Check his dates again though. It has been a long time for a build I think, especially after receiving a picture of the finished bass, but then suddenly have a "neck twist", and then the builder ending communication. Seems pretty sketch to me. And I think that the OP has played it quite chill...

The omni book is really good if you want a book. Recordings are the key. Jam sessions are really good. Its all about getting really comfortable with playing jazz, which is lots of on the fly, by the seat of your pants playing.

So, are you asking if a fender jazz is the right bass for you, or are you looking to upgrade your already owned fender jazz? I am going to assume that you are thinking of buying a fender jazz. I believe that this is a great bass, and incredibly versatile. I mean, the name jazz really doesn't...

Anyone know how to fill it in or something? Especially that trench. That thing is kind of obnoxious. But I don't think it should be a selling point. If you really want a non pickguard bass, why not get a squier VM, and then mod the electronics? It would be a ton cheaper than buying a Lakland or...

While many would say keep it if it rocks, if you switch parts out, you can always put them back in. Right? It might not sound exact, but it will probably always have that something that caught your ear in the first place. So why not right? No pic no bass... First time I've said that!

Crazy. So, the answer really is there is no way to fill in an already made cavity? I haven't actually looked under the pick guard. What are the odds that it doesn't have one? a 2001 MIM jazz bass... Probably not very promising..
