You could literally create a free "wall of sound" by going to a corner of a room pressing (lightly) the body of your bass on one wall and the headstock on the other wall. My uncle used to do that in the 60's, left his amp at the gig space, couldn't afford another amp for practice.

Another +1 for Traynor. Highly underrated brand. Pete is still involved with Yorkville and their products. Sound quality remains at a decent price point.
