Neat, an "exposure" gig!(OK, just a poorly worded attempt to get a jam/open mic night going)

For me and my band, playing music is a hobby. It costs money, and pays in the rewards of making music together. And if you're playing the local pub of a small town, with, maybe, 20 people showing up, you wouldn't be making much anyway. The venue arranged most of the equipment (we don't even get...

What kind of strings do you use?

I was using the same flats for two years now (got them second hand with the instrument), but one of the strings has just died.. Now I have to choose again.

Can I call myself a musician?

You could have stopped there ;). I would say being a musician is about mentality. I would say you're a musician if making music is a driving force in your life. So, you would be one if a significant portion of your life revolves around the creation of music. I wouldn't put it on instrument...

    Team Trace Elliot pt4.

I'm not gonna change it, don't worry, I'm just carefully observing it's parts. I also want to check all the solder joints as well anyway, and give some love where love is due.

I made three new pictures. Number-wise on the transformer: the wires connecting the outlet power connect 120 and 0 on the outsides, and one jumps from 0 to 120. The jumper wire makes me feel like it 'skips' half of the windings, and that removing that jumper would lower the voltage to the power...

I can. All the handwritten things are gone though, besides which fuses should be used. I'll do so in a couple of hours, I'm not home yet. Thanks for all the help; this is starting to feel like proper Sherlock Holmes-like deduction.

Just opened up the unit again. The QC sticker has a build date, built by, inspected by, model number, signature. Model number is AA11:58. On the back PCB is a written text saying SLIM. There's a green sticker on the front PCB that says L.H., as well as a date. The PCB's all show 'issue 3'.

It only says min load 4 Ohms, no power indication given

What kind of strings do you use?

Unknown flatwounds. Have been on my bass since I bought it second hand (two years or so ago). I have the feeling I should probably replace them in a year or so, it seems they are slowly starting to show signs of wear.

The teetotal band member from hell

I would say that, if there's disagreement within the band about alcohol use, and when people want to do what, they should have a conversation about it as adults. Just plain, what do we expect from each other. If he wants to practice at 10AM (which is a perfectly normal time to be awake), and you...

Oh, the transformer says AH150, but the output board says AH100/AH200. It seems a bit like Trace was using random parts? ;) Actually, yours seems to have a slightly different board. Fewer audio plugs from what I can see. Edit: Btw, does it help to say it came with a sleeve?

Can someone help with identifying what type this one is? It's got a DI port, and is a GP7 series 6 from 1992 (my birthyear ;)). The front board says it's a 'Series 2' board.

    Fresh Blood

Hi, I'm a computer science student from the Netherlands, playing bass in a young band with some friends (mostly from the same study). My equipment: GR Bass Road Series (4-string variant, flatwounds) Trace Elliot GP7 Series 6(unknown exact model, serial number is washed away and it's second...
