What kind of strings do you use?

Yesterday I put la bella on bass, it really is a great feeling on my fingers, so soft and smooth.

Wanna send me your D string? I SOMEHOW snapped the ball off! So I've 1 IDK WHAT roundwound metal string and 3 La Bella tapewound.

My nephew, just started guitar at school this semester, one of my spares is sooo jelly of my strings!! I LOVE IT.
He is a bassist who WANTS to play guitar.
He's so scared I'm right,I cant get him to even HOLD ANY of my bases! Lol

Update for me:

Still a believer in Thomastik Infeld flats. My favorite strings hands down, currently my Fender P ist strung BEAD using the 5 string set sans the G string.

When it comes to roundwounds, the strings of choice are DR Sunbeams. These really shocked me in the best way possible. Very fat tone, the most consistent set string-to-string wise I've yet come across, and the C string finally sounds right, which was a big problem with all sets I've used before. Playing these on an Ibanez SR306.

I'm seriously thinking about ordering a set of Dr stainless steel Lo-riders for my Jazz Bass. That Bass needs a new set of pickups though, as the highway one jazz bass pickups are ridiculously bright. I've been thinking about it for years but haven't been able to decide which pickups to choose. I suppose I need to go to another thread now.....

That's an interesting idea...
You want to try a bright set of strings but the bass you want to try them on is too bright to begin with, so you need to change the pickups on the bass to darker ones so the bright set of strings won't be too bright. Wouldn't it be easier to stick with a not-so-bright set of strings so you don't have to change the pickups on your already-too-bright bass? Just curious...

By the way, is your Highway One Jazz the one with the Badass II bridge?

It all depends on the Bass and the sound I am trying to get and the preferred action.
One of my basses gets Rotosound Flaswounds - another -- Ernie Ball -- Will probably try some DR strings.
Most of the bass strings I have used are really pretty grand.

Hey man! So you are technically correct from a pragmatic point of view however, I have been playing mellow strings on that bass for years now, and even with a dead set of Fender 7150 pure nickels, I still can only set the tone at 50 - 75%. The last quarter on the pot is just completely unusable it's so clickety - clackey bright! Other Jazz basses I've played with various pickups have a much more balanced treble response and so I'd like to get a more normal set of pickups in there and then use my string choices to determine the direction I go tonally with the bass. It is an early Highway model with the vintage bridge and the standard VVT, 250K pots with a .050uf cap in the circuit. I swaped the vintage bridge out years ago for a "deluxe" 3 screw model from my 2004 American series P with the 3 grooved saddles. It's a phenomenal Jazz bass with a smooth, easy playing, solid neck, and a lightweight alder body. I'm just trying to decide which pickups to throw in there. Sorry, wrong thread for this info!

Metal strings, I use La Bella 25" scale flatwound made exclusively for Gold Tone ME bass by La Bella, but I put them on many of mine others; 1 acoustic and 3 solid body under saddle piezo bass ukes, and 8 solid body magnetic pickup mini bass guitars. I also use poly strings with my piezo bass ukes, 2 acoustic and 2 solid body with Aquila Thundergut, and 6 solid body and 2 acoustic with Road Toad black Pahoehoe.

I am now using an economy brand, Killer City Guitars (bass strings). They are very bright. Great for slapping! I give 'em a thumbs up.

'80 Precision bass... GHS Boomers.
'08 EBMM Sterling... Fender 9050L flat wounds.
'16 Kiesel V59K... GHS Precision.

Previously strings... Elixers nano web on both the pbass and sterling. No good vibe from the pbass, but were good on sterling; Dunlop super brights on the V59K from the factory, very bright like looking at the sun, incredible balance tension feel though, but the factory probably forgot to crimp the strings and the B and E started to go flat.

Mainly Regular Slinkys for my two electrics. I also like GHS Bass Boomers. I prefer .130-.45 gauages. I use D'Addario Phosphor Bronze strings on my acoustic bass.
