Here's an update to my post from last August...
GHS Round Core Boomers (45-65-80-100-126) on my Yamaha for a test run after 8 mths with Pressurewounds.
The other two remain the same.
GHS Pressurewound ML7200 (44-58-80-102) on Fender J.
GHS Precision Flatwound 3025 (45-60-75-95) on Fender P.
DR Blues - Nickel wound on 5 string Jazz Bass
Thomastik Flatwound on 4 string Pbasses - fretted and fretless
Thomastik Acoustic Strings on 4 string ABG
I got a couple of sets of the Killer City strings for my pawn shop special Squier Affinty PJ. Got 2 sets with free shipping for $14. Pretty dang good strings. Stay in tune and sound as good as any other strings I have used. Very impressed with them. If they last, I will probably buy them again.
Giving Ernie Ball Power Slinkies a shot. I haven't played any EB strings so this will be a new experience. I hope they have the brightness of the Dunlop SuperBrights I usually get, or at least close to it.
After years of D’Addioes,I am using Boomers,just wanted a change.
On all but one of my basses..Kalium Hybrid balanced tension. I'll probably never stray from that either...they are amazing! My fretless 6..some good ol DAddario exl170s.
All I use anymore are D'Add Prosteels, specifically the [EPS300-5]. I wanted a set that had a slightly larger gauge E, but a little smaller D/G than in a standard 45105 set. Also the B/E/A strings are tapered which I find to be a plus.

I've tried ludicrous amounts of strings over the years and my hands down favorite is Fodera stainless steels. They are easily the best strings I've ever used. Foderas stole me away from DR Hi-Beams which is a benchmark string. Fodera strings are NOT a cheap date, but they are worth the price.
That being said, for my next setups on my 2 basses, I want to try GHS SuperSteels since they're more affordable and come in the gauges I like. Adulting is expensive.

TI Flats improved the sound and playability of my American Performer Mustang. Old Gibson EB-2 has flats, but 2005 Gibson SG has original rounds that came with bass. Rob Allen MB-2 has nylons. Each has it's place.

Right now I've got D'Addario Prosteels on my Precision and Jazz basses and Fender Tapewounds on my PJ bass. Over the next few months I'm looking to put flatwounds on the Precision and Elixir rounds on the Jazz.

I threw a set of Rotosound Swing '66 stainless steel rounds on my J-Bass about a month and a half ago in trying to get a bit more "Joe Dart" in my sound. They still sound good, but it's pretty incredible how quickly they lose their "zing". Maybe it's just the set I got, but the E string is already feeling a little lifeless.
I use what works best (after some experimentation) for that instrument, or for what I want it to do. My 58P replica always has Cobalt flats. My Nate Mendel sounds terrible with any kind of flats. '80 B.C. Rich Eagle gets EB rounds. My funk bass has pink DR's, and my Candy Apple red Jazz has red devils. One fretless jazz has rounds, and the other flats. Fender slab body '51 has the factory rounds, just because they work, whereas the Tobias 6'er has D'addarios cause that's all the store had in 6's that day. My Spector sounds clanky with rounds, but Cobalt flats make it punchy as hell. My N.S. upright has GHS crossovers. Some of my 'also ran' basses have EB rounds cause I get them free.
nander: Read Paulabass's post above. Then go through this thread to see posts about basses and or pickups that are similar to yours..... and what strings work best. Then you can make a much more informed decision without wasting your money.
I use GHS Heavy Boomers (115-50) on a Fender Precision Bass. I've had one set on for a few months now, and I really like the "heaviness" of them. As they've worn down, they have a really nice "thumpy" sound to them that I really like, but since they're roundwounds they still have a little bit more treble than flatwounds I used on the same bass in the past. Overall, awesome strings.
