I enjoyed piecing mine together. Few parts from the States (tremolo bridge, D-Tuner) and some cheap pickups just to see how it went. Was a fun exercise even if I did make a pooey job of the repaint!
I realised my second-hand P-bass was worth upgrading when I found myself playing it waaay more often than my expensive main bass, and I'd always reach for the P-bass first when rehearsing, playing etc!
I did get a bit carried away tinkering with it mind you!
Hi all :)
A relative (i.e. complete) electronics newb here; however I know what tone I like and what I'm after (roughly!).
I have the Corvette 2005 Ltd. 'Hot Rod,' and I am unhappy with the sound after playing it every day for a while. Don't get me wrong, I've never played a bass like it...
Hey guys :)
After a couple of threads spent drooling over the coolest boards I've ever seen, I thought I'd post my recently-updated setup - I know it doesn't all fit on the board, but I'm working on that :P
Apologies for the photo, I can't rotate it on my phone!
The Imola is great (was my first 'good' bass); it's the lightest bass I've ever held and balances great, good neck as well. The only problem I have with it is the sound (not bassy enough).
Thanks guys, one more thing, where do I measure the spacing, at the bridge?
I'm after a more growly sort of tone, something closer to the traditional J bass sound.
EDIT - the stock pickups are 102mm bridge, 98mm neck.
