Measure from the center of one pickup screw to the next. It should be about 36-38mm. On my Z3 I measured 36mm from bridge pickup screw (on center) to middle pickup screw (on center). 38mm from middle pickup screw to neck pickup screw.

It should fit on an NG3 as the pickups are the same location. I can provide measurements later for you to confirm for yourself.

I also wanted to add that the top of the thumb rest is perfectly parallel with the B string. The lower edge of the thumb rest (the edge closest to the B string) is purposefully not parallel to give more distance from the B string as you move closer to the neck.

I want to share a thumb rest I made for my Z3. I designed it in CAD using an 3D printer and have made several revisions over the past week. I designed it to have the same height as the other strings and to mimic the feel of a lower string. It attaches to your Z3 or NG3 with no modifications...

Bondo or wood filler advice on paint repair

Wood is not missing. Just need it smooth and level so I can paint.

Bondo or wood filler advice on paint repair

The backside of this bass already had some buckle rash “relicing” (down to raw wood) which looked pretty good. This was a custom relic paint job I did years ago with a professional guitar refinished. Sea Foam Green nitro lacquer. However, recently I got the stupid idea to “check” the paint...

Best way to enlarge the tuning machine holes?

I had this exact same problem when I installed gotoh tuners on my Fender. The holes were slightly too small. Get a file kit that has a curved file in it. It took very little filing to get mine to fit. $9 on Amazon. Amazon.com

P-bass tone in a modern body shape

I came here to say this.

What do you think of my first relic project?

I am resurrecting this thread from my original post nearly 15 years ago. I wish I could show a picture of how the red wine paint on the body aged naturally the past decade but the bass never got the chance! It suffered an ugly accident and got a big gouge on the body. The red wine color...

My Dingwall Z3’s tone was on full display at church this morning. No effects! Just a little compression and slight overdrive. You can really hear it when the camera shot is of that old guy who is not singing. 00:23:00 Z3 with Rupert Neve pre and SFII

It certainly looks like fire and brimstone at church with their lighting! Ha ha. That said, it’s true color is a bit more amber sunburst. Here are some better pics from home. Z3 Swamp Ash w/Maple Burl top - Wenge neck and fingerboard - Rupert Neve Pre with toggles - SFII pickups

No comments. Maybe that says something in itself. But, I did joke with the pastor once about it. He laughed and said, “It’s just a name”.
