    The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

That all makes sense. I have found one or two pickups that I love the sound of, but I guess a whole other can of worms is how much they will work towards the sound I want vs. other aspects such as bass size, shape, woods used, etc. on the Jake. I am sure there are many other threads on that...

    The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

Thanks for the replies folks. I guess I just got this weird idea into my head that I've heard other basses/players where there was the best of both worlds (minimal fret buzz, but the option of a nice clank when digging in), and that I couldn't quite hear that from any of the Maru demo videos...

Looking for Maruszczyk P vintage-sounding clips

Hello! I am strongly considering a Maruszczyk Jake P bass, and I want to get as close as possible to the sound of a pre-CBS Fender P. I know I might get some flack for this, but I have not found any of the company's official clips, as lovely as they are, to be especially convincing in this...

Getting that gritty Nick Campbell tone

Wow thank you, that video was exactly what I was looking for! Going back to the original purpose of the thread which was the grit, and in the same vein as the poster above, I wonder if something like the Jad Freer Capo would go a long way... Just a thought!

    The Official MARUSZCZYK CLUB!

Hey guys! I am thinking of getting a Jake and throwing a vintage P pup on it, and I want to have it setup with low action such that I get no buzzing when playing normally, but that nice sort of "pop" when digging in on high octaves for example. I have noticed that in the demo videos, there is...

Klein Epic '62 Precision Bass pickup

Forgive me for the mild stalking, but your soundcloud clips with the Klein pups have pretty much my ideal tone, and I'm all but sold! Mind if I pm you with a few more questions about them and your overall setup?

Getting that gritty Nick Campbell tone

Don't wanna hijack the thread too much with this, but does anyone have more info or reference clips on this sort of sound? I have a fender aerodyne P with me here with stock strings (not flats), and cannot get anywhere near that sound, even if I dig in super hard. I get a buzz/rattle if I don't...

Getting that gritty Nick Campbell tone

Any particular pickups that would help for this sound? Or just any vintage-sounding p I assume?

    Klein bass pickups

I'm also looking for some sound samples of the 62's! Anyone?

Getting that gritty Nick Campbell tone

I'm gonna revive this again with this clip of Nick on his P bass YouTube video. I can't see how he's getting such a wonderful grit and pop on the octaves here.. is it nothing more than digging in (it doesn't even look like he's going that hard on the plucking?..). I really want to know how to...

Nick Campbell sound analysis? strings / grit pre-amp?

Sorry to necro this folks, but I am just a rather lazy casual player who wants to get as close as possible to Nick's end-of-chain P bass sound for reasons of personal enjoyment. I'm looking for this YouTube video and especially this YouTube video It's a given that my "finger tone" won't be...
