Nick Campbell sound analysis? strings / grit pre-amp?

Hi,
Does anyone know what strings Nick Campbell uses? I seem to like his sound.

1) Are these chromes or group B Ernie ball? I read somewhere that he used Ernie Ball strings before.

2) I've noticed in other video's, he has a grit / edge to his sound. I know he uses the Noble DI and low action to get rasp, but sometimes it seems there is more going on then just that. Maybe a tube amp or a turned down overdrive? Does any Nick Campbell fan in here know this? Or is this caused by his Cali76compressor?

Venmuram was tagged in one of his instagram posts.

He probably uses Ernie Ball Group Flatwound strings, chromes have big shiny matt gloss look to them.. The strings he uses in the videos are less shiny. But this just guessing and i could be wrong.

Check out the first 10 seconds of this video... You can see the green ball end for G and even black ball end for D, which clearly indicates they're D'A Chromes. Ernie Ball Stainless Steel Flats (aka "Group flats") have all brass-colored ball ends.

because that is how it works..

Sorry to necro this folks, but I am just a rather lazy casual player who wants to get as close as possible to Nick's end-of-chain P bass sound for reasons of personal enjoyment. I'm looking for this YouTube video and especially this YouTube video

It's a given that my "finger tone" won't be anywhere near Nick's level, but how can I still get in the ball park, and what can I safely replace/omit? For example, from all the listening I've done to Noble DI demos, I find it hard to imagine how the Noble could be the primary source of his particular sound, but of course I could be wrong.

As an aside, I am thinking of going for a custom bass from Germany, so even pickup selection is on the table, but in any case I will definitely make sure that the classic P-sound is covered.

TLDR -> I am just hoping that someone can shed a bit more light on what exactly is going on, aside from immaculate playing, to produce such lovely and exciting sounds from a P bass.
