    Compressor or not?

So I'd like to know more about the HPF... I play predominately with my fingers, mostly play blues, some jazz/fusion, and some rock and interested in how the HPF would apply to a live gig at a medium club/bar or a patio/deck outdoor situation.

Soft, quiet, clickless switches. Why don’t more builders use them?

I could see in the studio where this would be some sort of issue. But in a live, gigging situation? Yeah, non-issue IMHO. Unless playing at coffeeshop volume I have never noticed the clicking sound, just the feel of the physical click.

Submission TOP - Diggin' on James Brown

This is such a bad ass song. ToP is amazing.

    Switching from guitar to bass

So, if you are like me and have been playing guitar for a LOT of years (40+ for me playing live, paying gigs) and then decided that the bass guitar was calling you, I have a couple questions. 1. First how did you overcome (or have you yet) the natural inclination to play bass LIKE a guitarist...

Entry into the bass amp world

So, the Fender Rumble 500 I ordered showed up today. Plugged it in and it's fat sounding. Plenty loud for the places I play. I like that it has direct out as well as an ext. speaker connection. Gives me options if I need them. I will need to sit down and really dial in my sound, but just...

Getting folks on the same sheet of music

Honestly, mainly practice space. He has invested in PA gear that we originally used but have since relegated to a practice PA so we don't have to setup/tear down at rehearsals. He also used to drive he and I to most of our shows, but with me having most of the PA now and more gear, we have to...

    Guitarist switching to bass

Hi everyone, I have posted a couple threads already but figured I'd just toss out a quick intro to the forums. I have been playing music since I was 12, starting out on trumpet. Picked up guitar my freshman year and 40+ years later I am still at it. I have always toyed with the bass as well as...

Getting folks on the same sheet of music

Thanks everyone for the varying viewpoints. It really does help having them instead of making a decision completely based off of emotion and not really absorbing all the different possible scenarios and options first. Thanks!!

Getting folks on the same sheet of music

Yeah, absolutely. And I have done that. I agree, leaving the other guys in the lurch is not cool.

Getting folks on the same sheet of music

Maybe... I doubt it, but if he does and figures it out, I hope he understands that I am trying to find the best solution to this problem before just saying "you're out" and losing a valued friend. Other viewpoints helps me make a balanced decision. That is what I want to do.

Getting folks on the same sheet of music

I have a bit of a pickle with my main group I am in. I sing all the songs, play lead guitar, book the shows, create the flyers, promote the shows, maintain the website, manage our social media accounts, manage our media (CDs, streaming and videos), own the PA and set it up along with the lights...

    Compressor or not?

So, I just bought a Fender Rumble 500 V3, I have a Fender J-Bass and I play mainly blues, jazz/fusion, and rock. Question: Do I need a compressor? And if so, which one would be the best choice for my rig and music styles? I read (some of) the very HUGE thread with a shootout of bass...

Entry into the bass amp world

Just bought a Fender Rumble 500 V3 from Guitar Center for $450. I guess we'll see if it meets my needs. Thanks to EVERYONE who responded to this thread and put their two cents in. Information is something we can never get enough of!

Entry into the bass amp world

Exactly... I'm already cramming everything into my car. Buying a new FOH and a bigger vehicle to play bass obviously does not seem practical.

And that has crossed my mind as well. Like I originally stated, outdoor gigs are not that often and are mostly at clubs on the deck or patio, not, as you said, like playing Woodstock or something like that.
