    Just an aside, I'm pretty sure tort is quite a bit more expensive due to the sheets costing less in plain black, white etc. Mine was £15 + £2 P+P about two years ago. Howard is a real gent.... I have a beautifull tort from him on another bass.

    It's a custom made one, cost £15 in the UK. I did also make my own from black single ply plastic sheet from a craft shop, pretty easy to do, used it for the template for the 3 ply one. Also added strat knobs;

    I'm not certain but, I think I read somewhere that the white/ rosewood P was stolen or badly damaged?

    Quarter Pound pickup height?

    No strings not hitting the pickup, I get destortion from two different combos (ashdown & roland) when the tone is turned fully to the bass side, with SD pickup, the exact same model bass (CV Squier) does not distort on the same amp settings with standard pickups. Is this 'clipping'?

    What is the pickup height need to be on a Precision with SD Quarter pounders to get rid of distortion? I started off with around 1/8'' and have lowered to about a 1/4''. Is there an ideal height and can you get rid of the distortion? Thanks.

    I have read somewhere that someone tried a brand? of flats on their MPJ and didn't like the sound at all, also i've read an MPJ with D'addario chromes on sound great, maybe have to try?

    yes, no problem, I play a couple of reggae tracks in the set and I roll off the tone play finger style, the sound is very deep and reminds me of a JJ type sound. IMO get the MP jazz it's a crazy good bass for the price.

    Tricked Out Squier Club Part 3

    The Black MF now has SD SPB-3 quarter pounders, an upgraded wiring kit with CTS pots and switchcraft jack, black knobs and the Gotoh 201, am I in now pls?
