Pic Request (Pbass related)

So I've been gassing for a P for a few months now. Just found out that I have 6-8 weeks of mandatory overtime coming up so a NBD is inevitable.

One of my closest friends manages the local guitar shop and upon hearing about this gave me a heads up about a used '96 MIA P they just got in. I'm goin' to check it out this aft, but have already seen pics. I'm kinda iffy on the colour, which is a pale yellow... But I'm thinking if it's a player it may just need a new guard??

Tip the scales for me folks!! Show me your yellow(ish) P's with guards other than stock white.

Please and thanks!!!

I have a Vintage White Japanese P-Bass (pictured below). With the maple board, it looks good with the white.

I used to have a '94 or '96 Am. Std. Jazz in Vintage White with a rosewood board, but I don't have pics. I usually used a white pearloid pickguard on it; but brown tort looks good as well.

Jeff K.. I have lusted over that precision bass of yours for a while now.... She is georgous, I love that combination.

Thanks Nick and Tinman. I feel the same way. I have some pretty nice basses, but this one is one of my favorites. I remember years ago somebody in a music store told me that Vintage White basses are one of those "love 'em or hate 'em" colors. I've always loved them. I'll be forever grateful to TB's own Bongomania for selling me this one a few years ago!

That close friend is the one getting into contact with the owner for me actually. The same close friend that tells me I can get anything I want at employee pricing.... He's a manager. Not the owner. The store is asking $900+tax, the actual owner will receive considerably less than that.

Yeppir, and thats the idea behind consignment. Put yourself in the owners frame of reference. You said "pull it out of the shop so I can work a private cash deal". That is NOT the same thing as "employee pricing".

I understand what you're saying. It's not causing an issue between my friend and I.

I want a P. I've come across a nice one. My friend is gonna help me get the best price possible. A price both I and the current owner are good with. If you don't agree with the method, well... You're entitled to your opinion. Thanks for sharing, but it doesn't phase me.

This thread's purpose is for people to post pics of Vintage White P's with different pickguards.

Update...

The owner doesn't want to budge on the price. Looks line I'm giving up on this one.... But, found a '98 Burst MIA P locally on kijiji. It's also listed at $200 less than the vintage white one I was lusting for. Goin' to look at it Friday aft.

Now I gotta new dilemma... Tort or Black on a Burst/rosewood P???

Black pickguard all the way.

Black on Sunburst is pretty much the boobies.

Either one will look good. Whichever one you like best. I lean toward tort on a Sunburst/rosewood, but black also looks good. On a Sunburst/maple, I prefer black.
