    LaBella Customer Service

I have had nothing but problems with Labella strings. I have broken them several times, in fact they are the only brand string I every broke while performing (I have been playing since 1969). I found their customer service pretty disinterested when I reported quality control issues to them. I...

    La Bella Sting issues

Well Frank it took me 30 years of playing to break a string. And in the span of one year I broke three. All on different basses and all Labellas. I'm glad you have good luck with them and hope you continue too, but as someone that makes their living playing bass I can't risk my reputation on...

    Dead Spots?????

Try differnt strings before taking more costly steps. It won't always be the cure but I had an old P-bass that came with Labella flats. There was a dead spot on the G string at the D note. For years I replaced the strings with other Labella flatwounds and the dead spot stayed. I had learned to...

Help! Flat Wounds For Gibson SG Short Scale?

I tried Labella short scale flatwounds on my EB-3 and SG basses with very bad luck. The E string sounds muted and the strings break very easy. Pyramids are a bit more money but have a better tone on a Gibson bass than the Labella strings. I get that classic Jack Bruce sound with the Pyramids and...

Dead E string on Labella flats

I used to have the same problem until I stopped using Labella strings. I have been using GHS bass boomer flats and my E string rings with a much better tone. I have also used Rotosound, Daddario, and Fender flats and not had that problem. It is only with the Labella flats that the E just lays...

New Option in Labella Hofner Beatle Bass strings...

I hope you have better luck than I do with La Bellas. I broke a g string while stringing a new set on my 500/1 German It broke at the ball while tuning. I thought it was a fluke but I did the same thing again on my 500/2 club bass. The only bass strings I have ever broken in over 30 years...

New Option in Labella Hofner Beatle Bass strings...

I used to use the La Bella's on my 500/1 and 500/2 club. The tension on them seems to be too high. Twice I have had them break on me. I was playing in a Beatles tribute band in NYC at the time and after the second break could not trust them anymore. I had to switch back to Hofner brand strings...

    Fender Bronco 40

I have one and use it for practice and recording. It is the best sounding bass modeling amp I have heard. My only complaint is that is under powered. If it had a bit more power perhaps 60-100 watts it would be usable for small gigs and band practice. But for what it is it a a good investment.

    La Bella Sting issues

I used them for years with no issues. Just seems all of a sudden there is a problem. Yes I did contact them and they blew off the point. I am not looking for a replacement string I want to make them aware of a problem and their reply was that they were not interested. I'm a union musician and...

What's up with the Combo negativity?

I work in Manhattan. Thank God for combos! Much easier to schlep around. Try hailing a cab with a full amp set up. Forget about it!!! You will stand their with your hand in the air all night. Combos are king.

    La Bella Sting issues

The 72 is not through the body. And I strung the American Standard through the standard holes not the through the body. You can do it either way with the high density bridges. I have been using GHS flats since and they are working great.

Flats: How old is too old?

I use GHS steel flatwounds. I change them about once a year. I think they could go much longer but got used to changing every year. Used to use La Bella flats but the quality went way down on them.

Does La Bella make low(er) tension flats?

Be careful if your buying La Bella stings. Last summer while putting a new set of La Bella Beatle Bass flat wounds on my German Hofner the G string broke where it was joined to the end bead while tuning. I was a bit shocked as I have never broken a bass string before and especially was surprised...

What kind of strings do you use?

I will never use La Bella's again. Last summer while putting a new set of La Bella Beatle Bass flat wounds on my German Hofner the G string broke where it was joined to the end bead while tuning. I was a bit shocked as I have never broken a bass string before and especially was surprised with...

    La Bella Sting issues

It appears La Bella is having issues with bass strings. Last summer while putting a new set of La Bella Beatle Bass flat wounds on my German Hofner the G string broke where it was joined to the end bead while tuning.
