LaBella Customer Service

I recently purchased a few packs of Deep Talkin' Bass flats 760FL. When I went to install the G (.043), as I was winding, the string winding and core continued to pop and break until I was left with not enough length to be usable (yes, I make the 90 degree bend with needle-nose pliers before cutting). I have used LaBella's on all my basses and have never had an issue like this.

I sent an e-mail to LaBella's general inbox asking for someone to contact for a replacement. Within one business day, I had a reply from Eric, the VP, and within 2 more business days, UPS was on my doorstep with a replacement string.

I understand that in any high volume production, you have some bad stuff that can get through; it's how you deal with it that makes you a quality company. LaBella is a quality company making a GREAT string. With all the crap customer service stories on here, I thought I would share a good one.

Happened to me with LaBella too, same outcome. I've also had super service from GHS, DR, and Elixir. I don't use D'Addario, but I've gotten good info from their rep who posts here.

Many companies could learn a thing or two from string companies.

That is great to know. It is because of details like this that some companies succeed and others don't.

BTW - I had a problem with a D'Addario string a while back and they never answered me. However, I had gotten the set from Jason at bassstringsonline.com and he took care of it immediately. I am buying all my strings from him from now on.

I bought a set of LaBellas and had a bad one and they replaced it immediately. As I went to install them again, one broke, so I wrote them about it and got ignored. So they're only batting .500 for me. OTOH, I decided they weren't my thing so it doesn't matter anymore.

I have had nothing but problems with Labella strings. I have broken them several times, in fact they are the only brand string I every broke while performing (I have been playing since 1969). I found their customer service pretty disinterested when I reported quality control issues to them. I have had to give up on their use all together.

I had a bad B (nickel roundwound), I sent it back (fortunately not too expensive across the Atlantic), they sent me a replacement.

Good customer service but with so many strings on offer I'd be trying other ones before I go back to Labella. The extra time and cost involved in sending strings back to the US is a disincentive.
