    Is Recording Yourself Really Necessary?

I have the Samson CO1U as a spare, you can get them for $50 on ebay, and they get their phantom power through the USB port. Not a bad mic actually.

Digital vs. Analog (Recording) .. Pros and Cons?

One thing I will say in the CD vs. LP format battle, is that people who listen to vinyl generally tend to have stereos with good components, great speakers, etc., whereas CD and MP3 listeners alot of times have terrible playback equipment (Computer speakers, earbuds, etc.) so it will never...

    Double Bass Polytone Minibrute II

Yeah like I said volume won't really be an issue since I'll only basically be using it as a monitor for home practice, band rehearsal, and small gigs. I've got plenty of volume if I need it. Mostly I'm looking for extreme portability and lightweight design. (I pinched a nerve in my back which...

    Double Bass best jazz bassist?

One of my favorites and probably one of the most underrated bassists in Jazz would be Jimmy Garrison. Jaco's not particularly my favorite bassist, in fact he wouldn't even be in my list of favorites. Like the other guy said, there are plenty of other bassists I'd rather listen to.

Digital vs. Analog (Recording) .. Pros and Cons?

The argument that analog is somehow higher sound quality or is "warm" or whatever is ********, it all depends on the QUALITY of the equipment, the engineer, the room, and most importantly the player. Nothing (not even Autotune) will make you a good musician, other than becoming a good musician...

    No more 15s for me!

I've got to throw in my two cents, as far as rock in general goes, I think the 2x15 or 1x15 and 1x18 cabinet combinations have plenty of definition and "response" to them. I've never noticed a 15" speaker responding differently to my playing in comparison to anything else. I just set the EQ on...

    Are EHX pedals "good"?

EH pedals are very very good as far as sound, in fact the Memory Man Deluxe is about as close to tape echo as you'll get in a pedal. I think they're reliable enough, but you really can't "stomp" on them like a Boss unit, they're not made for that. Their customer service is really sucky though...

Double Bass Bought my second upright, an Eberle, today

I own the carved top Roma, and it's absolutely fantastic. Everyone who sees it and hears it goes "Wow! That bass is beautiful!"

    Double Bass Polytone Minibrute II

Well, I've seen some Polytones for alot less than the Gallien Kruegers. (We're talking the used market though.) As far as power goes, I'm not really concerned because I have a Peavey Musician 400 and a GK 115, I just don't want to lug that big of an amp around plus an upright bass. (Plus...

    Double Bass Polytone Minibrute II

Is this a good amp for an upright bass? I've heard that the other Minibrutes are good for upright but I can't find any opinions on these other than guitar players. They look inexpensive and very nice. -Thanks (I've never amped it up really.)
