Do boutique bass racks irritate sound engineers?

I'm going to have to agree with this guy. If you guys who show up to the gig with a D.I. and your bass are fine with relying on the monitor engineers (if there are any) to give you what you need for stage monitoring in the wedges (if there are any) than be my guest but in my experience, from...

    New Fender Bass amp TB600

I put it on a scale and weighed it. 48 on the nose and worth every pound. People who have a problem with bass rigs and weight kind of trip me out. ive yet to hear anything that wasn't heavy, except maybe an 800rb, that sounds good.

Becoming a P-Bass addict; over my Jazz!

I played primarily Stingrays for years but always liked the sound of the Precision, especially when played hard with a pick so I recently got one of the new American Standards and now I play it almost exclusively. It just has an organic warmth and low end that I could never get from the...

Are EBMM Stingrays really that great??

stingrays are great basses. well made, solid, distinct punchy tone, and look really cool. especially great tonally speaking if you want to cut through the mix and through a wall of guitars and bashing drums. i will say though that it isn't the most organic, 'warm' sounding bass, mainly due to...

    New Fender Bass amp TB600

Hey thanks for posting the pic of it taken apart! thats a great top view, and now I know exactly where the 12AX7s sit.. Some say the tube pre alone does not really deliver much of the 'true tube tone' but this head is really, really warm and has more 'tube sound' then just about anything ive...

    New Fender Bass amp TB600

This is my follow-up on the Fender TB-600 Pro head. I have used it for a few months now and have played it at a number of rehearsals and shows and am really happy with it. Regarding the weight, yes it is heavy. I have it mounted in a 4 space rack with a tuner and power conditioner as well so...

    Amp DI Thread

the pedal version is pretty versatile and has a good 'tube emulation' circuit.. will run you about 200 bucks.

Amp Direct Out vs DI box?

The Sansamp Bass Driver D.I. pedal is a little $200 box of magic. I'd highly recommend it. Geddy Lee uses the rackmounted version of this pre and a ton of guys use the pedal version. Great for recording too.

    top 3 bassists of today

another guy, rock guy, who doesn't get a lot of love is jeordie white aka twiggy ramirez. after years in manson he played in a perfect circle (excellent tone and bass work) and then toured with NIN for two years and is back in manson. great rock bassist.

    top 3 bassists of today

yeah, he doesn't get a lot of love from the bass geek community but he is really quite good and his harmonic sensibilities are pretty advanced for a rock guy. oh and he's cool. thats something alot of players that everyone always talks about dont seem to have going: all the bass player magazine...

    Pro bassist vs. Amateur Bassist

this is kind of a ******** quote and you seem to have little sense of music history. look at a lot of the great 'pros' in history.. charlie parker, jaco pastorious, etc. to name a few. these guys died broke.. broke legends. some of the greatest ever made some money and didnt make money.. and...

    Pro bassist vs. Amateur Bassist

i agree with this guy and the last guy i think so far. to simply say that a pro is someone who 'makes their sole living' from playing is kind of silly for many reasons: for one, you have no idea what his overhead is or where he lives so if he makes $500 a month from playing and he lives in...

    Fender Bass Amps?

heres a crappy phone pic of the fender head i just got. it blows doors on just about every amp ive ever played except for the svt. so lets say its the 2nd best sounding... i went on and on about it in a separate thread, so ill spare you. really warm, tube drive mixed with 600 watts of solid...
