New toy from EHX, the Atomic Cluster…

Meh, bought one and returned it. Not sure what I was hoping for, but it didn't really excite me. Shimmering background "granularity" maybe? I don't think it does that very well on a bass.

The 4th of July's comin'. Encounter tease?

Insightful as always. Thanks for this.

Clearly off-topic thread hijack, but I trust no one else in this other than SA. The "next gen" of pedals: There always has to be something new to keep selling product (and for me to keep buying). Have their been any next gen DSPs released, or are companies simply designing with multiple...

Octave pedal that goes up well ....

Agreed. A compressor should be part of any bassist's setup regardless. I should say, when I use the octave up on the OC-5, I also add a bit of the original signal. It seems counter-intuitive, but I find the effect becomes a little more prominent with the original signal to compare it to. Could...

Octave pedal that goes up well ....

I've tried a few pedals, and the only one I landed on for octave up was the boss OC-5. It has no less latency than any other pedal, but I think they adjust the attack on the octave up, so the "doubling effect" isn't as obvious. In other words, you get less of that unintended room rev, that is a...

I've been to NAMM once, and I had to be there to realize it is what's it's called: Music Merchandising. A small opportunity to also engage end users , but that's not really its purpose. Very excited about SoundCheck! Thanks Robert.

Meh, "placeholderish" offering, the encounter. They needed something for the show, and something to keep people (like me), salivating. Still, I'm glad they take their time to knock it out of the park on a controlled schedule, as opposed to tripping over themselves in a race to grow too fast...

I could've been more specific I guess. I was referring to the mini TRS they now use on the Artifakt. It's midi only, and not midi over USB, or their 4 pole control port either. It's a standard Boss started, and I'm glad SA seems to be adopting it.

I hope that's just an old enclosure they had lying around to house a new prototype in. 5 pin MIDI seems like a step backwards at this point. I think they're new platform is fantastic (Artifakt), but it may not be enough to house a dual processor pedal if that's the case with this one. Reasonable...

I'm clearly out of my depth here. An example, is that I didn't even use a snip tool on the studio computer to attach to my comment here. As far as I can tell, I'm literally just using the ladder filter section. At least that's all that's on as far as neuro is concerned. With it alone, I'm...

That Ladder filter is easily one of the best "dirt pedals" out there. Did not see that coming!

Source Audio C4 Synth pedal pitch tracking

Agreed: Clean technique, possible bridge mute, and I certainly don't expect polyphony. I mean to string up other basses with half-rounds and nylons primarily for checking out the raw sound of them, but I wonder if that'll "clean up" my technique, compared to the roundwounds that are my primary bass.

I may have mis-spoken about the phasing of the J pickups. I had one in another lifetime, but didn't know a thing about pickups at the the time. (Know marginally more now). They are humbucking when on together correct? About to try the top end roll-off fro tracking, thanks.
