    Different color frets

What about titanium frets? would hold up just as well as steel frets and they can be anodised without much diffilculty. I'm not sure how wear resistant the anodised layer is but i'm fairly sure it's better than aluminium

    Question about active signal levels

Sounds to me like the manely doesn't like the basses that your having problems with. If nothing but the bass is changing I highly doubt it would be something like the phasing of the xlr (I get the impression there's no bass amp on stage) or the permanent cable runs. Try using another DI is...

    G string sucks

try lowering the pickup. "flicking a coke tab" sounds like the string is hitting the pickup when you play it

    Four weeks in the pit

your cab might be projecting the sound over the heads of the audience, probably easiest to ask the sound guys to mic you up or if they reckon there's somewhere better to put your amp. pits and theatres can have some rather peculiar acoustics and your FOH guys should have a good idea of how the...

Changing strings on an acoustic bass

sounds like you need a truss-rod adjustment, there's plenty of guides in the setup and repair forum. Before you change anything though, put all the strings on the bass and bring it up to tune, it can make quite abit of difference to the overall action of the bass.

    “Treating” flatwounds

I rub a little bit of oil on new ones just to slick em up a bit, they allways feel 'sticky' out of the pack to me. Rounds i give a good greasing though, brand new roundwound zing isn't my thing and it helps deaden it

Horizontally laminated neck, yes or no?

I'm guessing you would need a fairly beefy trussrod and probably some stiffening rods with a neck laminated like that. From my experience (non-bass) laminates like you've described tend to flex alot

    balanced amp into normal cab

I've recently gotten a second hand amp off of ebay. The minor problem is that it's only got speakon plugs as outputs, which only have a + and -(inverted) connector with no signal ground. Is it ok to connect ground on my cab to the inverted signal on my amp? I'm guessing it would be ok since...

How many pickup are in your bass? Seven?

how is it wired? I imagine it must be buffered to stop amps compaining when all the pickups are switched on

Measuring in MM's, what is considered a low action, and high action

sounds like you haven't got your relief set right or if you've recently dropped your action your not used to playing with a lighter touch. also check all screws, nuts, etc are tight, every now and then a loose screw can cause mysterious rattles when playing

    Power Amp and Pre Amp

yes and no. There's nothing special (in general) about a bass amp to make it any different to any other amp. The main difference is in the power supply of the amp, bass freq's need alot of juice and the power supply needs to be able to supply it AND maintain stable operation. If the power...

    Advice on bass internals...

shouldn't be too hard, just wire it up like a normal pickup. you might have to use a different pot value to your current ones though

led frets (not the fret markers, frets)

Not sure, it would all depend on the brightness of the LED you use, the size of the fiberoptics and how bright you want it to be. Are you planning to use a power switch or dimmer with it?
