It's not the bass bruises you should worry about. Bringing in little ones to the ER banged up from a bass clunking them on the head and tuner stuck through the leg should be your concern. :)

I had an Ibanez ST 980 8-string bass somewhere in the late 70s/early 80s that I traded away. I'd love to find one again but they are pretty spendy these days. It was too much bass for me at the time. Not mine, but it was the same.
