When somebody comes into club while we are setting up and asks, "Is there a band here tonight?"
No, we just like to go into clubs and set up and tear down band equipment.

I've been known to use a variant of that, ala Reverend Lovejoy, "We play rock and/or roll. Gotta keep em separated for OSHA reasons."
We've had a lot of requests, but we're going to keep playing anyway.

in my last band we were doing a pub gig and someone was hassling us yelling out "Play some Pink Floyd"!
We didn't have any Floyd in our set list, so after the 4th or 5th time he yelled it out I said "Here's a Pink Floyd song.... that Pink Floyd didn't actually write or perform"!

This is also a great opportunity to break into "Groove Me" by King Floyd... Then you can say you misunderstood.
